I've just converted from bags to loose after reading this thread. I spent ages cutting open teabags I'd already bought to get the loose tea out but that tasted crap so now I'm using Yorkshire tea loose.

Normally twinnings, but when I'm in York I always stock up on Bettys teabags.

Sainsburys green tea and camomile tea are my favs.

Just bought Yorkshire tea, and it was a big mistake. Tastes of dust.
Perhaps it's not suited to Welsh water?

My recent favourite has been Lidl Knightsbridge tea, in a gold box, very nice.

For the last few years I have chosen to buy only Assam tea bags

before that it used to be the usual old faves :-
PG tips / Tetley's / Typhoo

Just to clear up that hoary old cliché/urban myth (although hopefully people don't actually think this and use the phrase as a joke).

The tea used in tea bags are not 'sweepings off the floor'. The vast majority of commercially produced tea is made for tea bags and therefore there wouldn't be nearly enough if only 'sweepings' were used.

The tea leaves in tea bags are simply shredded finer so that they brew quicker.

Tetley for me !! mmmm.

Teapigs, but not for everyday as they're pretty pricey.
Dorset Tea is good, also Clipper.

loose tea - I like orange pekoe

I drink a lot of pukka chai tea, both green and normal, and also yogi sweet chai

I also like twinings gingerbread green tea

I've just ordered another 9 boxes of Ahmad Ceylon tea bags from Amazon, so that's my favourite at the moment. Amazon kindly upgraded my free delivery to next day courier delivery but the courier delivered them to the wrong address. I got them this morning from the householder.

I tried Luaka Organic Ceylon bags recently and didn't like them at all.

I think Jacksons Fairtrade Kenyan tea bags are delicious, but there's no way I'm paying full price for them from Twinings. Three months ago I finished the last of 20 boxes I had that cost me 39p a box from B&M.

Sadly B&M haven't had any decent tea in for ages. Before they opened up we had a 'Nice Price' chain store locally (they went bust about 5 years ago) and I was able to buy Tetleys Organic Orange Pekoe bags in small cardboard containers that had been imported from Canada.

I actually emailed and phoned Tetleys to ask them why the bags weren't sold in England and they said (reading between the lines) that we weren't discerning enough, so they had no plans to sell them here.

It was exactly the same story with Tetleys loose Orange Pekoe, also imported from Canada.

I avoid all the cheap tea bags and there's nothing I hate more than being given cheap weak tea when visiting, apart from instant coffee that is. Still, there's no escape from being given horrible beverages, so I just keep quiet, smile, and say it's delicious!

I bought some of this punjana tonight at Morrisons ~ after recalling someone mentioned it on this thread
It says it is an**AWARD Winning tea ** and has a vibrant red coloured wrapper

1st choice is Ringtons Tea - the Ringtons man comes to the door every 2 weeks with the tea and loads of other goodies to buy.

2nd choice is Taylors of Harrogate A.K.A Yorkshire Tea and served in Bettys Tea Rooms.

We also have Twinings green tea, jasmine tea and a few of the infusions they make.

I never bother with loose tea at home but my tea bag cupboard is always stocked with:

Yorkshire (original or Gold)
Twinings Every day/English breakfast
Twinings Chai
Pukka Pepermint & Licorice
Dragonfly Mountain Honeybush
Twinings Pure Peppermint

All of the above are highly recommended !

Teapigs teabags are also really nice but expensive.

Punjana is the only tea that will pass my lips.

Another shout for Thompson's Punjana here. I usually find it in Tesco.

I've also got green tea with mint and some supermarket own brand peppermint tea. I have some I brought back from Germany as well but I've yet to drink those.

Was bought up on PG tips so they are my fav for an everyday cuppa. (I can tell the difference when I don't get PG tips at friends)

for peppermint and earl grey etc it has to be Twinings, but the Tesco peppermint isn't too bad when I run out. (mind you, nothing beats homemade peppermint tea with Moroccan mint, waiting for mine to grow more before I attack it)

other herbal teas just don't rock my boat, the smell never lives up to the taste.

Yorkshire for me. If it's herbal peppermint or green tea.

Lidl - Lord Nelson brand - Papaya and Pineapple. It is delicious but I don't like ordinary tea.
