Lost TV episodes from BBC Audiobooks

Not that I want to start off a canon debate, nor do I want to discuss the relative validity of 'audiobook' versus 'audioplay', but BBC Audiobooks are releasing the complete soundtracks for 5 of the junked TV shows!

Hope it's not been posted already, but sorry if it has!

They are recordings of lost episodes that were on TV and so therefore their canonicity isn't up for question surely?

They are releasing all the lost stories in 5 sets IIRC, volume 2- The Daleks' Master Plan, The Massacre of St Bartholomew's Eve, The Savages and The Celestial Toymaker- is out on 3rd February.

I have the m ajority of the "missing story" soundtracks already. The BBC is now rereleasing them in boxsets.

They're glorious. Brilliant brilliant brilliant.

It's amazing to be able to explore stories we'll never get to see. Forgotten gems like The Savages. The Massacre is so intelligent and gripping.

The Reign of Terror makes sense on CD, whereas it doesn't on VHS with two whole missing episodes filled in with one sentence of linking material.

The Highlanders is summat-and-nowt, and it just underlines that people only talk about that story cos it's Jamie's first. I'd have believed the hype that it was really good if I had never heard the rather ordinary soundtrack.

Likewise, Evil of the Daleks bored the arse off me. Capture-Escape-Capture-Escape. A right hoary load of old nonsense. Again, everyone believes it's brilliant because they've only seen one (pretty good) episode.

Everyone should have these CDs. They'll make you reconsider everything you thought about B&W DW.

I'm planning on getting the boxsets, they represent a big part of the shows history, and, as Chuff says, they definitely include some forgotten gems.

I prefer to watch recons so there's a hint to the visual element there. My imagination isn't what it used to be.

Of course they aren't.

No, some of us believe it's brilliant because we've seen all seven episodes (twice).

When would that have been, Adam?

Would that have been the original broadcast and the '68 repeat? The one gifted by 2nd Doctor's powers of memory and concentration (I think I read somewhere). Must be nice for you to have a good memory of these things. If only you could perform the same telepathic trick as PT we'd all be eternally grateful!

Yes, that's correct. The Dominators, recently released on DVD, starts directly after the 1968 repeat which is referred to by the Doctor and Zoe at the start of the story.
