Voting and Elimination announced
http://www.bbc.co.uk/strictlycomedan...t/voting.shtml
Here is the explanation of the voting and scoring for this series. Looks like they have finally found a way to effectively deal with an unexpected event such as Jade and Kelly leaving the show.......a double elimination at semi final stage if there are still 5 couples in at that stage. |

Well, we all know there was an effective way of dealing with it...just don't eliminate someone the week someone has to drop out! But they never went there, for some stubborn reason unknown to anyone : )

We invite you to vote for the dancers that you liked best, based on their performance in each show and during the series. Releasing voting figures could affect the way that people vote, and also have an impact on the participants. We therefore do not disclose the exact voting figures.
Err. Why not release the figures after the series has ended (like ITV) and then that wouldn't be a problem.

i think that if someone dropped out then it would be good to have a "would have been elimination".
they did it on DWTS, someone dropped out and even though they told them no one would be eliminated they did the results anyway saying who would have gone, i.e it could give someone that extra kick up the bum to do the best performance they can |

Hmmm. This way, if there's no dropping out, then the public favourite can go home in a double elimination. I would imagine they're hoping that people won't notice this.

5 (judges)+2 (public) 4+3 3+4 2+1 1+5 Plus if there was tie that week then it will be impossible for public top to be in bottom 2 and go. |

Is Darcy returning this series - or can we be spoiled by having a pro dancer on the panel. Karen, Camilla or Lilia please

No, they just roll all the scores and votes over to the next week. Yes, it is pretty simple.
Double eliminations are bad bad bad. |

This is quite interesting:
In the event of a tie In the unlikely event that there is a tie in the judges' scores and the public phone vote for the two or more couples at the bottom of the leaderboard the judges will confer and decide which couple will leave the show. As there are four judges, if there is a tie in the judges' vote head judge Len Goodman will have the casting vote. Brain like mush today - so how likely is it to happen? |

It's not 'unknown' to me!, if they did that, there would be no phone in and they would loose all the revenue, simple as.....

For the million and fiftieth time, the BBC makes no money from the phone votes.

Hmm I don't like that double elimination idea. Even if it is highly unlikely for the top vote getter to go home.
Interesting that in the final the judges will not effect the 3 couples down to 2 stage. This is better as it will not reveal if a couple is ahead of the other couple in the last 2 (Darren and Lilia for instance). |

"No couple is guaranteed to be safe on viewers' votes alone however" - is that an error? Surely they mean judges' votes as whoever finishes top of the viewer votes is always safe (except in a double elimination).
