You can also download the the tv shows for all Big Brothers (UK, USA, Aus) on mIRC. Details here:

http://forum.digitalspy.co.uk/board/...27#post2219227

When all the BB shows are finished, you can also download previous series from the above countries too.

Fingers crossed the link will manage to hold out all the way through this year. Last year the link became so widely used that it collapsed under the strain in the last 3 weeks. I always try to play safe and tune in around midnight, so if I get a bad conection, I have time to try again.

A good forum that I use is http://www.tvupdates.com/thread.php?f=13 they also offer a live update page and have the links for the free 'live' tv show and the cams (if you have subscribed).

I think I'm gonna have to rely on the channel 10 link. I wouldn't feel real comfortable with opening a file from an IRC link unless I absolutely trusted the source - and althoughBit Torrent looks great, Peer Guardian may not be good enough to keep me out of bother and I don't wanna have to go as far as something like Secure-Tunnel .

So I'll just have to join the pack and hope E4 pull their finger out and make the commitment.

Mirage, thank you so much for this link

This is the first time I have ever seen any of the US shows, usually I just stick to the live feed and read updates of shows from TVClubhouse, so this was a real eye opener! It's only a shame CBS don't repeat them at a more sensible time (for the people who shouldn't be watching them anyway! )

Thanks again

Someone on Ch4 forum apparently called Ch4 (E4) and was informed that BBUSA will not be transmitted in UK!

I quite agree with you with having to be very careful about downloading files from people on IRC, too many nasty things just dying to invade our computers.

If it's any help though, I can fully vouch for the people who provide the files in the IRC channel I mentioned (especially the @'s). They are there 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. I have been downloading from them for around 2 years now and not a single problem. I always have my anti-virus and firewall running though for peace of mind.

Other than IRC or Bit Torrant, a subscription to a good newsgroup can get you the same files, but no doubt they are any safer.

The tv channel is great. When our BB went dull last night (or should that be duller?), I was watching the quizz shows. The adverts entertain my kids, they try to guess if the next advert will be for tablets, creams or food. They're easily pleased.

I'm sure I read a few months ago that BB5USA would be shown on E4 but that may just have been a forum member who no actual inside knowledge who was just hoping.

I'm currently at 37% for the 90 minute show that was aired on Tuesday night in America. I hope that E4 do show it though because, even though I would have plenty of space before my newly imposed 15GB cap, it's a bit of a pain downloading and then probably burning to CD in order to watch on the DVD player.

Ho hum, s'long as I get to see it I guess!

Excuse my ignorance but what is "Channel 10" that you have been mentioning? Info would be gratefully received

StuL check out these two posts by mirage

#14

#29

They'll both get you to the same place - #14 has the direct URL , while the link in #29 will take you to a page which has the Channel 10 link as a menu item at the top of the page.

Seems like I can't get away from the thread at the moment - but I can't seem to edit a previous post so this is just follow up/courtesy note for 'mirage'.

I seem to have cracked the IRC stuff enough to do what I needed - last night the problem was at their end I think . Difficult to say - but I think that what I want is being 'delivered' at the moment.

Cheers

Great to hear that you are giving the files a go.

Getting the files from the fserves can seem a bit daunting the first few times, but it really is quite easy to use. It's really a matter of copy and pasting the commands.

I use the nickname of April285 on there, so if you see me about and need help, feel free to message me on there or here. They also have a chat room linked to the downloads room, so if you need help, a lot of people should be only too willing to help.

Channel 10 is the tv station that allows us to watch the american shows 'live' via the internet. We need to tune in on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday nights at 1am or 2am deepending if the show is being aired at 8pm or 9pm US Eastern Time.

I download the shows too and burn them to disc. They are very good quality and with no adverts. All I do is collect around 5 or 6 shows (enough for 1 cd), then burn the cd and delete the stuff I no longer need on my computer. Thank goodness I gave up the Australian BB this year, it got very complicated last year.

It is a pity they will not be showing anything on E4 this year, but in my opinion to get a true picture, you still need the internet feeds to access the other feeds. Shame they never did this with the E4 interactive button. You miss so many sneeky conversations sitting on 1 feed that can affect the game.

Hi mirage - thanks for the heads up on the nick. Yup I managed to crack the download - the file I originally wanted seemed to be only available through torrent even though there were a couple of nicks on the binaries site. ( hey - watch me with the lingo - go newbie go ).

So I managed to arrange delivery of another which when I opened it said it was corrupt and would only play audio. After much hitting of head on keyboard and dog , I ploughed through a few sites and finally hit on the xvid codec I apparently needed. Lucky me it was a solid program, and my delivery now works fine

Its an interesting way to learn about IRC

Cheers for all your good advice so far

Just wondering what size the files were that everyone downloaded? Mine was around 700MB. That is going to start causing problems soon if all episodes are this big. As I have a 15GB cap, I am looking at about 8.4GB on downloading episodes alone this month. That is not including the uploading as well which counts towards the cap. Most of the time, when downloading torrents, I leave it doing over night so that when I come to it in the morning, it's downloaded but it also means that my upload rate is higher than my download rate. This means that unless I can find a way of not sharing (not really fair) or smaller files, I've got a problem

So far I've only downloaded torrents. What are the file sizes and download times on IRC like?

Thanks

Hi StuL - I've not braved Torrent yet - my download off of IRC today was I think 444MB and it took a very little over 3hrs on my 512 DSL. It was a compressed video file that I needed an xvid codec to run (a little gem of information not in the handbook ) Not difficult though once you know. Will supply link if you need it..

Once I had the file and had loaded the xvid program It actually played on WMP and not RealPlayer.

Hope this helps a little

IRC may be the way to go then. 3 hours is an excellent time. Me is going to have to play tomorrow morning (for tonight's episode).

I too had to download an Xvid codec as well (even though I'd downloaded one the other week ). I downloaded a program that tells me what codec I need for each file I download and provides a link to a download for it. Here is the link: http://avicodec.duby.info/

News at 23.30, Jeopardy at 12... it's like a whole new station

ALL the us networks used to be broadcast online by a canadian company, they were then sued and forced offline -- can't remember the name now but remember watching several shows back in the late nineties this way... movies over 56k, those were the days!
