Went to buy a can of coke today, and it was 90p!! A 500ml bottle is £1 (same as a 2L bottle) needless to say I didn't bother. Going into old man mode here, I remember when they were 28p, and I'm only in my mid twenties.

Sheesh, with this and a chomp now costing 15p this country really is going to the dogs. Whatever next, 20p for space raiders?!?

The prices for coke seem to be all over the place. There seems to be no relation at all between quantity and price. Diet Coke (500ml) costs on average £1.15 around here while Diet Pepsi (600ml) costs 99p. A 1L bottle of Diet Coke costs about £1.45.

I'm down to 1 small bottle a day now from drinking 3-4 of them a day about a decade ago. Thank you greedy manufacturers for pricing these unhealthy drinks out of my price range, you are so considerate .

I just want to add, that if supermarkets want to do the same thing with ready meals and chocolate then go for it. My waistline will very much appreciate it.

I just paid 60p to make a 'public' (it was in a Sainsburys) call earlier, and had such a shock! I remember when it was a mere 10p to cause trouble in phoneboxes.

I can remember when 2p could make a phone call to my Dad to come and collect me from town in the 80s.

Bottles of Coke, Pepsi, Lilt, 7Up, Fanta, Sprite... 39p at the smaller stores, like Home Bargains, B&M... just shows you the mark-up the supermarkets impose.

Damn near cleared out the 4xPack bottles of Pepsi Raw at our local Home Bargains - four glass bottles of this lovely lovely cola for 79p! Same four-bottle pack is around £2.80 in Asda.

Support your smaller stores!

Gosh that really demonstrates the power of rapid inflation. I first started using public phoneboxes in 1987, and the minimum then was 10p. Scary!

That's nothing - try WhSmiths.

The one near me charges £1 for one can.

I've recently paid £6 for 24 (after paying £7 for 24, so bit miffed i could have saved £1 ) ..

I don't often buy chocolate bars, so was shocked to see a Flake bar at 45p and that was in Netto. I remember when they were about 27p.

I think Space raiders have already hit the 20p point.

Nothing is cheap these days and its only going to get worse.
