Patsy's dress suited her. I didn't like pamela's as it was grandma like. I liked Tina's dress and Kristina's funny enough! I didn't actually like Kara's because I didn't think it suited her.

Agreeing with most of the comments, some horrendous over-theming going on

Plenty of people mentionned Kara's hooker outfit, but I don't think anyone's commented on Artem's awful HOOD! It's as if their theme was a slapper and a chav in a nightclub!

One thing I do disagree on, I actually thought Ann was looking nice!

Perhaps this week's outfits were so bad because the entire wardrobe department is having a colelctive nervous breakdown wondering what to put Ann in for her salsa.

Excuuuuuuse ME! As a card-carrying chav I can assure you that we do NOT wear hoodies made of black PVC (or a binliner as we would call it). Nor would we wear sleeveless hoodies, even to a nightclub. That would be declassay.

Don't you get clever with me mate. I know where you live. And so does my mum.

Agreed, Artem's costume was awful too. I'd have run if I'd bumped into him in a dark alleyway wearing that. I still don't really get why they were dressed like that to dance a fairly ordinary cha cha cha to fairly ordinary pop music. Incidentally, Kara's "hair" seemed to be made of the same fabric as Artem's top. Did they just shred his shirt to make hair extensions?

Hasn't she said she won't have bare shoulders or knees I'm sure no exposed cleavage would also be a stipulation

I think Patsy's dress was very unflattering, made her look bigger round the middle than she is.

Patsy's dress did her no favours at all - and appeared to have a malfunction with the skirt becoming partially detached from the bodice. I wonder if the makers remembered to stretch the lycra before attaching the non-stretch fabric to it.

I thought that Pamela's dress was actually very elegant and slimming. One of the best celebrity dresses of the opening weekend.
Apart from purple big bird dress last year, Erin always looks very elegant. Her dress was very nice and simple but I wondered why hexagons as a pattern until someone pointed out that they were meant to be footballs (Doh! silly me)

Matt and Aliona's costumes were hideous with that generic stereotyped countryside theme. I really didn't like Kara and Artem's outfit either. The costume designers should know that if they have a long dangling bit on the dress there is a risk of a heel catching - and in such a fast number too you won't have a chance.

I do wonder why they keep giving Ann cardigans/bolero jackets to go over her dresses. They could just give her dresses sleeves. I doubt the cardigan is for warmth - with a lycra leotard underneath a lycra dress it's already warm. They could also either let her wear a full bra or sew a full bra in as her bust is not looking supported at the moment, which will not be doing her any favours physically or aesthetically.

Tina looked like she had a serious camel toe going on. Just saying.

Karas outfit was awful! what on earth was she thinking going on wearing that? clearly she wasnt thinking!

I thought Kara looked aweful which is sad because she's such a pretty girl and I was so looking forward to seeing what they'd put her in. She also looked really uncomfortably so I dont think a good choice for her first dance when she was probably nervous enough as it was!

I thought Tina looked adorable in her little baby-doll dress but the colour was a bit shocking!

I very much doubt Kara had any say in what she wore at all. There were certainly moments where she appeared to be uncomfortable but putting a brave face on it.

It is very clear that wardrobe has been issued with an edict from new executive producer Moira Ross to go as OTT as possible. The cheese factor has gone through the roof, but portraying Kara as a maneater (and that's putting it politely) is a step too far. Unless it's remedied, it will backfire on Ms Ross and damage the chances of one of this year's strongest contenders. (Curiously, I made this same point on a posting to the BBC blog but it was removed: maybe Ms Ross doesn't like to be criticised? ).

Kara obviously had to go along with what she was told to do - just as any employee in a new job does what the boss says - but I hope she speaks up for herself in future. While some aspects of the show are undoubtedly improved, wardrobe is not one of them (nor is the music chosen for the cha cha cha).

Good, you can both come round for tea and watch Claudia.

Just don't bring the pit bulls.

I wonder if wardrobe are allowed to place bets at the bookies and then deliberately sabotage people with tasselly bits?

Goodness no, pit bulls are SO last year. I'll bring the ferrets.

Re Wardrobe - someone has Tweeted that they had to go across to M&S in Westfield and buy a fancy bra then add a bit of tinsel and - voila - Michelle's top was created. Budget cuts? Surely not.

I assume they sent the dyslexic one out to M&S for Kartem's gear.

... thanks for making me laugh ... I still don't understand how it is that I overestimate the capabilities of the wardrobe department year on year ... surely it's not that hard to make a good looking woman (if slightly larger than your average dancer) look half decent in sequins? ... they managed to make Tish look like a princess once, but since have failed miserably!

I'm sure Kara's costume was originally destined for Lilia ... and Artem's PVC hoodie must have been pinched from Robin Hood's costume department ...

Not sure which version of Robin Hood you've been watching young lady but not the BBC one I suspect.

Obviously one of the few that loved Matt and Aliona's outfits. Actually he looked better than his partner but there you go. Ann will hopefully allow the wardrobe team to design her some flattering frocks - I hope so anyway, she's looked shocking so far. Gavin looked rather gorgeous and I don't like Gavin! Pamela's dress appeared to be too big for her, however the colour suited her as did the handsome James Jordan attatched to her arm. In general the wardrobe dept have so far done a great job.

Usually the wardrobe dept always get it right with the celebs on Strictly, but on Sat night what the hell was Jimmy Mistry wearing it was awful!! totally out of shape and did not flatter him at all. Luckily for him he put on a good performance.
