I've just made a tuna pasta bake with a Colemans sachet packet mix. I do love the taste of it from a packet, but I dislike the amount of salt and added extras that normally go into these packet sauces.

So what I'm asking for is a good tuna pasta bake recipe, made from a tomato base rather than butter - which is what most of the ones on the internet seem to be.

Any recipes out there?

I make a lovely one with tuna, tomatoes and mushrooms but I don't follow recipes as it is so simple to make.

Cook some spirali pasta until al dente.
Butter an oven proof dish.
Mix up pasta, mushrooms and tomatoes.
Cover with cheese and bread crumbs
Bung in the oven.

Or you can just fry mushrooms, onions and garlic. Then add tomatoes. Cook until nice and hot and then mix together with the spirali. Bung into ramekins, add cheese and bung under the grill.

This must be the best tuna pasta bake. Without the tuna
I haven't had tuna in 5 years as it has been overfished , even our cats have to do without.

2 tins tuna in oil, well drained
2 tablespoons olive oil
1 large onion chopped fine
2 sticks celery sliced thinly
2 x 400g tins of chopped tomatoes
½ teaspoon salt, good grinding of black pepper
120g grated Parmesan cheese
220g cooked short pasta

Heat oil, fry onion and celery 2-3 mins. Add the tomatoes and seasoning. Two teaspoons of pesto could be added now if you like it. Simmer about 10 mins, then take pan off the heat and add the tuna and cooked pasta. Mix thoroughly, tip into an oven dish and cover with the cheese. Grill until the cheese melts into a molten, golden crust. Watch it doesn't burn. Serves four.
