Not to keen on that dominatrix persona she adopted for the cha cha. Difficult to tell it was the same girl from the pre-interview. Don't know why she was so embarressed at the end.

Excuse me, I never said she was a Lisa Snowdon! I said the judges risk turning her into one, which is an entirely different proposition, so please don't make out that I said something I didn't. I never said i didn't like Kara, I actually do, and as I said before, she is a good dancer, but if the judges give her 30 for a dance with a very noticable mistake, regardless of fault, then she has nowhere to go really, and that's not going to do her any favours in the long run. On talent she could quite possibly make the final, but the judges' favouritism may not help her.
I was only paraphrasing ...I actually think the judges' favouritism (and actually only Len and Alesha's, really) will be less of a barrier to her than how she was portrayed tonight: as someone who beds the men she works with who then appears in skany ho gear. Neither of those characteristics - very obviously chosen to be highlighted by the producers As we all know, winning Strictly isn't just about technical precision, it's about character and personality - and Kara, through no fault of her own, has been given a very bad start on that front. I too hope she is not overmarked in the weeks to come. But, more than that, I would hope that the producers get to grip with what 'sexy' actually is - and it's certainly not how Kara was portrayed tonight. |

Perhaps she herself didn't like that dominatrix persona? It's so NOT her.
And you are right about the basic steps - but I rather think they were overshadowed by the appalling music she was given to dance to. Second only to the appalling job wardrobe and make-up did with her ... |

Let's be honest alll the judges except Craig have a tendency to overmark everyone whether they be good bad or indifferent. I think the important thing to focus on is the position on the leaderboard as this ultimately is what effects the overall points she will get from the judges to add to the phone voting points.
In this regards I think her position was spot on. Her performance was not as good as Pamela & Matt who are rightly top but she was better than the rest so i have no problems. |

Add to that Artem's ridiculously white teeth (what a shame she wasn't paired with Matthew C) and I'd say Kara's got quite a few obstacles to overcome. ![]() |

Kara is supposed to be an actress, so I expected her to play the part she was given and not giggle. She giggles a lot in training, and if that is a fancying the teacher thing, it may hold her dancing back as per Matt D'Angelo.
She could have been given a better outfit - maybe a basque and fishnets or something and we wouldn't have had a costume problem. She is the best dancer we have seen, so I see no problem with the judges reflecting that. I liked the routine, maybe the music could have been better, but Artem is doing a good job. |

I seriously hope they wouldn't have given her higher. If she'd got a 9 in her first week she would have nowhere to go.

Because if they'd put her top despite her mistake then there would have been an absolute outcry. Matt and Pamela did not make mistakes and danced brilliantly, therefore they deserved to be top. I hope the judges wouldn't have marked her higher than 30 even if she hadn't made a mistake, but clearly they would have, and that smacks of favouritism when Matt did a better cha cha that actually looked like a cha cha!

I'm supporting Matt and Aliona, and they deserved top spot with Pam and James.
However I thought Kara was brilliant, and were it not for the fall she would have been top. She fell, and rightly so was behind the top 2 on the leaderboard. I am really excited at the prospect of Kara, Matt, Pam, Jimi and maybe one or 2 others who improve battling for the title this year, I think the standard is high. |
