iPhone 3GS question for o2 folk.

Hello,

my brother bought an iPhone 3GS after getting fed up of the horrendous Samsung Jet that cost him over £150 when he bought it ( by God it's woeful).

He has a 3G sim from that phone and has plugged it into the iPhone but I'm not sure if you can do this? He can't get on the internet, and he can't send mms even though he's edited all the settings following O2 websites instructions.

Do you need a specific iPhone Sim in order to get the phone to work?

Can he use his current, top up £10 for unlimited texts random sim deal or must you change tariffs?

Thanks a lot.

Yeah it should work. What's his APN settings? http://shop.o2.co.uk/update/datasettings.html

Any O2 sim will work but you really need a data package as it will cost a fortune if you dont have one in place. Are you sure the settings are correct as they are different for contract and payg.http://service.o2.co.uk/IQ/SRVS/CGI-...er):str(Mobile)

Text the word MMS to 1010 to get MMS working.

He's going to have to buy a £7.50 web bolt on.

Cheers again.

I'd say GiffGaff is good value and worth a look at. Buy one of their cheapo 'goody bags' to get mins and texts then unlimited internet is thrown in for free. They can send you a free SIM and it will work no problem on a phone locked to O2.
