Usually when the guest act comes on the dancers flit about interpreting the song.... None for Gary and Robbie though.... Was it just too cringe worthy for the dancers? Were the lyrics so sledge hammer like there was no need to 'interpret'? Or did Robbie and Gary not want to be upstaged?

Difficult song to dance to? You try dancing to it

Or were they too knackered from doing their one dance to practise another one?

Do you blame them?

Not enough room on the dancefloor for their egos and the pros

All of those scenarios are perfectly feasible but I'm inclined towards your last option, I think someone mentioned on another thread that they rehearsed with dancers then filmed without, perhaps the dancers got a little bit too much applause.

It is a truly dreadful song and to make it worse I didn't make it to the remote control in time and it's been stuck in my head all evening

I even looked up the lyrics in case I was missing something - but no they were meaningless. very tricky dancing to something that has no meaning

I did miss the pro dancing though

It's because it was supposed to be all about them!! I think the song is dire, but people will buy it because they're friends again ::sleep:

Very weird on a dancing show to have a musical number with no dancing, IMO.

Would have been the perfect time to let some of the pro troupe perform.

They probably filmed it without anyone there apart from a cameraman!

They'd have had to have had two male dancers really. so probably thought the audience couldn't handle that.

There was going to be dancers I am sure someone (ola?) tweeted that they were performing with Robbie and Gary so don't know what happened there. Maybe something simple as a wardrobe malfunction?

Makes a change I thought it was spot on, sometimes the dancing distracts and sometimes it dont fit the music, I cn find it quite annoying.

Not a fan of either guy or this song or their music generally, but has anyone seen the video to this song? It's pure genius. Sly as hell and hilarious to boot.

The lyrics were a bit strange! What on earth was the bit that sounded like Robbie having a large poster on the wall of Toys R Us?

Whilst I agree with the views of the OP, I'd like to point out that I've been using that board name on here for four years longer than he's been a member.

I'm prompted to make this post, because I couldn't remember being the OP!

Ola, Aliona, Kristina, Flavia and Katya all tweeted it, it was meant to be them. But it seems they've actually recorded a dance to a Robbie solo number to be shown in a later week, which is what their tweets were actually referring to, just none of them made it clear it wouldn't be shown yesterday!

It's a reference to when Take That had dolls for them as part of their merchanising in the 90s which were then sold at Toy R Us, hence the big 30ft poster advertising them. Must have stuck in Robbies or Gary's mind all these years.

I'm a Take That fan but luckily I managed to get to the remote about 30 seconds into the song. I had to switch over before I became violently ill. Awful song.

probably prerecorded. hence Brucie's constant, rather forced references to Robbie being backstage last night.
he was probably at home having a cup of tea and an eccles cake.
the show is looking good this year though.

You are probably right CSHY but even if pre-recorded I am sure at least two of the professional dancers would have been willing to come in and dance to the routine. Unless none of them can stand Williams and Barlow, that's a distinct possibility perhaps.

But my impression is that it was an ego thing: "We're the stars of this show. No distractions, or we're not doing it."
