We were there last night - interesting about the Robbie Gary duet ..... they firstly recorded Robbie singing on his own with 4 of the girl dancers ... then about 10 minutes later they set up the floor with a sort of velvet cloth covered in starry lights. On came R & G - they sang their duet BUT had to to it again as R messed up the opening few bars!

So we were all there "live". It's a pity that there was no time for Robbie's solo with the dancers.

I'm not a great fan of Robbie Williams, but he was very amusing and whilst he and Gary were awaiting the OK from the first recording, he bantered qujite a bit with the jusdges and audience. It was a lot of fun.

I thought it was painfully bad lol. The 13 year old in me who loved Take That and was sad when Robbie left squeed a little but then the 28 year old in the rest of me slapped the shit out of my face.

Well we have spoken before about names... You probably don't remember. Now either I have made a huge gaff when registering, or you have made a very 'school boy' error in your post, with emphasis on the 'boy' part, by assuming I'm a he. I'm a she!

You have 4 years on me for the forum, but Humphry and The Big Sleep have a lot more years on either of us (and Digital Spy.)

Regarding the Song of Robbie and Gary.... I'm good at interpreting obscure poetry and lyrics and seeking out hidden meanings. I think the song alluded to two people, probably men (but I'd hate to assume ) who in the past had some kind of relationship - something in the public domain perhaps?. There seems to be a hint of some split, followed by a lot of public animosity, where each party told their side of the story through some kind of public forum. Later, one went on to be hugely successful, after a short dip in popularity... Then their success faded and the other party was in the assendancy, perhaps backed up by others in a similar postion... some kind fo group?. I feel the song celebrates the two coming together in a mutually lucrative financial partnership.... I think it is a story most people can relate to... Who hasn't broken up with a fellow celebrity and done a similar thing?.... I've often gone into Toys R us and seen ex partners posted on the walls. Like all great songs, it speaks to the predicament of the common man/woman. I'm sure the sacked dancers (kept on as extras) could have conjured up some interpretation....

Of course, this is all speculation and me reading very deeply between the lines to extract a well buried meaning.

Don't feel shame. I still have a soft spot for Gary Barlow, I just thought the actual song was really lame lol.

Ahh thanks SS. Come to think of it, I do remember once seeing a Howard doll when I was shopping in there once - sadly nothing like the real thing, just Ken with long hair!

Since Radio1 pointed it out to me I can't get over how much the start of that godawful song sounds like the theme tune to Postman Pat. I imagine it would be hard to dance to.

I owned a Mark Owen doll back when I was a young Mambo

I really dislike the song (then again, I'm no fan of Robbie or Take That), so I wasn't looking forward to watching the performance, but I did, because I thought there would be a Pro Dance during it. Sad there wasn't.

I liked it. And I hate it when someone sings and they have the dancers prancing about. I think it distracts from the song.

Oh God, it really does!

Yeah, but it's a show about dancing... I don't get why they have 'stars' on it singing anyway, but at least the dancing make them a little more relevant. Remove that and the performances are fairly pointless.

Thinking about it, Robbie and Gary should have waltzed around the floor together with their new found happiness!

After he'd warmed up Robbie was to give a passable impression of someone who can sing but my overall review would be...

Get a room, boys!
