I am comparing their first waltz. Austin did a fantastic first waltz. Gavin did a very good first waltz.

Austin's waltz > Gavin's waltz

by a country mile.

Only the waltz, mind. Gavin might be really good in the jive, or better than Austin. He might even be better than Austin in the Salsa (which is not difficult, because Austin's salsa was average).

So, do you know if you like him, or not?

I think he is very quite, can't imagine him being loud within his group of friends. He is a pretty closed person. I think if he really was interested in katya he would not make comments about how attractive she is. She is with someone and if there was something going on then she would not be so flirty on camera. She did very well, the routine was simple to suit his ability. The latin I doubt will be good. But we will see.

Having watched the clip a second time he was better then my average statement in first post and deserved his marks. If he's good at the latin they could go far. Mark Ramp. was also very shy at the start but Karen got Mark to winning standard and I believe Katya can do similar with Gavin .

Was totally prepared to laugh at him. Ended up going 'awwww' and 'cute' a lot. (I know. I'm sorry.)

Interestingly, my husband (who hates Strictly and was pretending to do the crossword) ended up going 'awwwww' (but admittedly not 'cute').

Gavin Henson - something for everyone. Even hardened cynics on the "Not Appreciation Thread" thread are being won over.

Whoever would have thought it?

Only just starting to see what he's like.

The only time I have seen him express emotion was when talking about his children and being seperated from them.

I'm hoping he stays a while, as Katya will work very hard to improve him, and he may be a better man at the end of the show. It depends on whether he is willing to loosen up and be more open.

He seemed devoid of personality, but I think people will like him more if he opens up a bit, and he may be nicer than people think.

Have to say I did not think Gavin would be any good and felt sorry for him as he is obviously so shy.
However I really loved the dance they did together.
Katya looked lovely and it was so romantic for me it was the dance I enjoyed the most on Saturday.
Particularly thought his rise and fall was excellent for week one.
Katya has done a great job on him.

He is very loud & obnoxious after he has had a few drinks - hence him being banned from most pubs/clubs in Cardiff City Centre.
