That's mostly a character invented for the show. It's how the BBC like to portray him. He did once say he avoiding giving the press photos of him smiling because they'd be bound to keep it and then put it out with a nasty caption when something went wrong.

This thread though is about how he is on twitter rather than on The Apprentice. That's staged and edited to make him the star (ok he is for most), but the tweets are direct from him. There's little humour, even less charm and on occassion a gob smacking rudeness that someone who wants his opinions to be listenned to, need to rein in IMHO. Ok, some tweets to him are rude (so ignore), but he's gratiuously insulted his customers (the govt, civil servants/NHS buyers) for no other purpose than his own ego. Which is what Gerald Ratner did. Twitter is the real him, no editors, PR or journos to make it fit the picture.

No I'm sure it's him, not some PR person. It's not a fake.
He is very much part of the celeb circus now, comes from starring in a hit reality tv show. Him and Piers "Twonk" Morgan do go back over a decade. He had a column in the Mirror back when P T-M was the editor. He was never going to get a column in the Guardian, Telegraph or Daily Mail.

What I love are the RT's from 'THE BOOK' lovers. Some of them hilariously state things like 'this is only the fourth book I've ever read, but can't put it down!!" Yeah well that'll teach you mix this new reading thing, pasting celeb pics in a scrapbook and super glue. Either that or no long words.

I think you are spot on. What happened to the Sugar from the first Apprentice 2005, who said, I don't like arse lickers, schmoozers, bullshitters etc..? It's pretty sad that Sugar has succumb to all this celebrity crap, but from reading reviews of his book, I suppose he has never fitted in anywhere before, and now thinks he does. He's sadly very disillusioned, and has turned into a sycophant!
