Hi all, off to London at the weekend and are looking for a decent Chinese for a lunch (preferably buffet style), preference would be Chinatown area but just want something decent and not overly priced, any recommendations??

Also fancy Indian but have been told to visit Brick Lane and can't go far wrong?

I wouldn't agree with this, i've had the worst curry from Brick Lane, and generally think the standard of the curry houses is not great. However, I did visit masala zone over in covent garden last week and was pleasantly surprised with the food and the value.

Cheers, will check that one out for the Indian.

Always cautious as we had a chinese a few years back and it was terrible, a lot of choice but never sure which one to try!

Have a look on Timeout London at Chinese restaurants. Personally i think it would be a shame to go to London and have a Chinese buffet.

www.toptable.com - have a look here - you can search by cuisine / location / special offers

I have had a lovely Indian (it was near near London Bridge) and it was 50% off food and drink. I don;t think this deal is on any more but it's worth a look to see what's out there!

The Buffets are generally totally dire, they are always busy with tourists so don't have to build good a reputation.

You'd be better off ordering from the menu at one of the smaller restaurants.

If you want cheap and tasty there is an amazing falafel cafe in Soho, or the cafe in the Japan Centre does amazing huge dishes for less than a fiver.

Any reason to not actually go into Chinatown. Lots of nice places to choos from and a 2min walk from Piccadilly Circus tube?

Not at all, we usually walk through Chinatown but can never decide which one to try

China town the best place to go. So much choice and have been to many.

I've heard not so good reports about Brick Lane. More Banglash than Indian and plenty of street walkers offering deals to get you in but they never turn out to be as good.

City Raj on Farringdon street is the best central one I've been to. Amazing food and good value too.

For something different Maison Tourag is an amazing morrocan place in Soho, with a hookah pipe bar too. The shared mezze platters and pre theatre menus are really really good value, totally brilliant place.
