Right, after about 8 years of having Homechoice --> Tiscali TV --> Talk Talk TV I have finally decided its time to leave......
Reasons - Well, the service hardly improving in the last few years, but the price certainly getting worse and worse as we continue. The final straw really was the "upgrade to to the 21st century talk talk network" which basically means give us 6 pounds more a month for the same service.
I currently pay 30 pounds a month for internet, tv incl entertainment pack and music channels. I believe i will be paying 36 pounds from this month.
Now the service has run very well, never had problems with my internet, unlimited downloads, relatively fast. TV is basically freeview with selected on demand content (what irritated me is the gaps in on demand stuff compared with virgin (much more comprehensive) and online)
The only real advantage of ondemand on tiscali is if u like HBO and their infrequently updated C1. To be honest I dont watch that much of it.
So I ring the customer services, get put through to disconnections. I speak to a lady who seems surprised I want to leave. I tell her i'm not happy with the non progression of the TV service and the high price i'm paying essentially for a glorified freeview service (and my line rental is separate too)
She says, oh dont worry because everything is being revolutionised and we have evidence, go to www.youview.com .....so while she is talking to me I look at it. Essentially its the new name for project canvas. Apparently its being rolled out next year. I mention to her that it says on the website that the service will be free, and all you need is to buy the set top box. She says the box will be 200 pounds, but may be free to talk talk customers, if i stay a customer (but she couldn't guarantee it)
The only thing she could offer was internet on its own for £10 a month, which didn't seem bad actually, BUT download cap of 40gig a month (which apparently the rest of us will have on our accounts soon) but with an 18month contract.
Otherwise its, see you later. So she said she'd give me a MAC code, and now 3 days later, I got a call from another lady at talk talk who said she's sorry to see me go, and asked why i'm leaving. I essentially said "price" and she said, ok thank you bye. (I thought she was at least going to try to keep me as a customer!!)
Now an automated call giving me my MAC code, and all done.
So all in all, the experience hasn't been too bad, but they haven't really tried to keep me as a customer at all. Considering I'm one of the old homechoice customers I think thats quite poor......
I'm sure the next stage of the story will be returning all teh equipment!!
How has everyone elses experience been? Anyone still using talk talk tv?

I wouldn't have dared push for more if it wasn't for your info. I'd have gone to BT for phone & broadband and lost my dear fluffy-wuffies on Animal Planet
So something's gone right
