After the death of sir Norman Wisdom yesterday, I not only thought we'd lost a great comedy actor but also the chance of him ever appearing in Doctor Who. Not that he ever could in the last couple of years because of his ill health but still would love to have seen it anyway!!!!!

So what other actors who have never appeared in Doctor Who would you like to see?

Eoin Macken who played Gwaine in Merlin on Saturday. Great presence and stature with an air of mystery. Sign him up Moffat.

When I first saw 'Fires of Pompeii', I remember thinking that I'd have loved to have seen the late Frankie Howerd as the market-stall holder that sold the Tardis!

"Oohh Noooo, nay, no" that would have been brilliant. Perhaps Paul Darrow who played Avon in Blake's Seven could pop up (as a baddie naturally).

He's already been in it, in the 6th Doctor story Timelash.

And the third Doctor story "(Doctor Who And) The Silurians".

He was startling in Timelash.

I'm not so keen on that but would love to see Lacey Turner(Stacey from EE) and also I'd love to see either Harry Enfield in it as well, after all his Who references in his original Tv Series and not only that, Paul Whitehouse as well!!!

Not only that, after seeing James 'Spike' Masters in Torchwood would love to see either Charisma 'Cordelia' Carpenter or even Willow and Buffy in Who as well!!!!

Speaking for myself, my dream casting role would have to go to Robert De Niro. The man is a legend and would be a great coup, not just for the show, but the BBC.

And that would put the Daily Mail in its place!

I've just watched it and I'm still convinced the pair of them are Who Fans!!!! But you're right, it wasn't that funny!!!

Maybe with a good script they could be so again in Who!!!

No . It was good . The joke was not about Doctor Who. Other than to point out how good and progressive it was compared to a lot of other appalling tripe in those days .

I would love to see Tom Wilkinson playing a badass.

I still root for Hannah Murray as Romana

D'oh! And the Silurians was one of my favourites. Must say like a lot of people I didn't watch the 6th Doctor much. His audio play Davros was good though.

How about Aidan Gillen (Queer As Folk, The Wire) and Robert Sheehan (Misfits)?

It's called "French And Saunders Syndrome". A tragic affliction.

Well we had Lee Evans in Planet Of The Dead - that's pretty close to having Norman Wisdom in Who...
Sad to see Norman pass on - keep 'em laughing on the other side Norman!

Doctor Who guest casting - Rik Mayall would make a good baddie as long as he toned it down a bit (I still think he would have made a good Doctor actually...)
