Girls Aloud - Spice Girls all over again?
Both were manufactured bands all be it Spice Girls in a non tv show.
Now they are all going solo? Spice Girls all over again.

Erm, people obviously care because otherwise Cheryl Cole would NOT have had the sales she's had.

True. No one cares this time round, simply because there's only one star in Girls Aloud, .

they will NEVER reach the standard of Spice Girls! with 1 album they had world domination, with 2 they were a phenomenon and with 3 and a compilation it basically ensured they were the biggest selling girl group EVER! and despite their criticisms their songs are pure bliss and anthemic tunes with pretty quality lyrics and each had their own iconic style and tone to their voice that were distinctive!
GA have a few guilty pleasures, but on the whole i MUCH prefer the Sugababes in comparison. Have always loved Nadine though

Spice Girls were a million times bigger than Girls Aloud. Their reunion was met with headline news reports around the world and dozens of sold out venues.
Now i do like Girls Aloud, but tf they split and reformed in 6 years time i doubt they will get the same reception

The reform failed unlike Take That.
Have to be remembered as a "Has been" band I'm afraid. however if they were to come back and create timeless classics again, i'd be a fan, as would the rest of the world. |

they just hate eachother too much, haha.

I dont see how you can say that when they had 9 number 1 singles in the UK + a number 2 single and a number 11 single (yes I just looked at wikipedia
)11 Top 20 singles 9 of which were number 1 hits is hardly flash in pan material dear. Girls Aloud are no where near the level of fame the Spices were. |

Spice Girls are a whole different level, they defined the 90s like Oasis and Take That they definitly reached a status where they would be remembered like the Beatles are. It's silly to call them a flash in the pan because they had such worldwide fame when they were around and no other pop band has managed to come close since. A lot of pop bands have tried and failed since to recreate that, same as bands who have tried to be the Beatles.
Plus their renunion was so massive, sold out everywhere and it's unfair to compare it to Girls Aloud because Girls Aloud haven't got that level of fame and not many people will miss them except the loyal fans. I remember the Spice Girls, every one wanted to be them and all the people who cried when Geri left as I remember on the tv at the time, that won't happen with Girls Aloud. |

GA are more of a flash in the pan really! |

They are silly because getting back together (after Nadine & Cheryls albums are full promoted) would put them in a really powerful place. Their fanbase would be huge. They probably won't though, especially if Nadine's album does well....she will never look back- for sure!

Have to be remembered as a "Has been" band I'm afraid. "The Return of the Spice Girls was the second North America-Europe concert tour by British girl group the Spice Girls. This reunion tour visited five countries in both North America and Europe.[1] This tour marked the group's first tour since 1999's Christmas in Spiceworld tour of the United Kingdom, and the first as the original five-piece since May 1998. The tour is estimated to have grossed over US$70 million.[2] The tour won the 2008 Billboard Touring Award for Top Boxscore for a 17-night stand at London's O2 Arena." http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Return_of_the_Spice_Girls Do your research before posting rubbish ie YOUR opinon of how the tour did based on how you feel about the band itself. ![]() I like Girls Aloud though, so I just wish they would hurry up with their solo careers and go back to recording music together again!

The 2007 return was mixed. A very successful tour but the single & greatest hits were surprisingly unsuccessful and killed off any prospect of the comeback being a more permenent thing. |

The Spice Girls had 2 successful albums (the third was the end) so they were a flash in the pan. But it was a massive flash.

The Greatest Hits was also a big success. So far its sold 3 million copies which considering both Spice and Spiceworld have sold over 30 million combined is pretty damn good. Forever sold 5 million copies which is also a damn sight more than figures Girls Aloud have ever reached. |

i prefer girls alouds material, but they are not in the same league as the spice girls whos success was phenominal.
"flash in the pan"...do you know what that means?... they were at the top of the charts for FOUR YEARS... thats about average for any act! they were NOT a flash in the pan. |

The big difference between Spice Girls and Girls Aloud is that the Spice Girls were a global phenomenon. Girls Aloud are unknown outside of the UK. I think it will be quite a long time before another UK girl band can match what the Spice Girls (and their management) achieved.
I have to admit, I do occasionally listen to some Spice Girls songs on Spotify as a guilty pleasure
