Think it was the first or second thing she said in her VT before her first dance with Scott!! Honestly, that woman makes me so MAD!!!

What exactly makes you so mad? That she has the intestinal fortitude you can only dream of to have a conviction and belief in her abilities?

I think what she said was that she was going to make the final but not that she was going to win it.

But Scott makes me fall asleep?

Every pro says that in their VTs. Even Anton.

So all the other pros make you mad as well then? Ola said in the launch show she wanted to make the final again! They're all competitive by nature, that's what they've spent their lives doing (or most of them have), and what is the point in taking part in a competition if you're not going to try your hardest to win? It's all credit to Natalie for wanting to the best job she possibly can.

From what I recall she said she wanted to match last year, and I would assume that naturally that this time she would want to win it as she lost out last year.

Personally, I don't really care who does win as it won't be any of the 3 Pro's I like most.

You'd probably make HER mad if she met you as well....because the content of your post is making ME mad, and I haven't even had the pleasure .

What an absolutely POINTLESS thing to say!

Like others have said on here, all pros say it - it's a natural thing to say when its a "competition" (and YES I do know it is "entertainment") - and why not want to win?

It's not exactly a crime, is it?

I never ever have or will understand the notion that so many people seem to hold that being competetive is a negative trait or something to be frowned upon.

I know they say that "its the taking part that counts" but taking part ultimately doesnt get you the accolades, or the top job, or the gold medal or whatever the pinacle of your chosen path in life is.

Natalie's chosen field in life is dancing. It's only natural for her to strive to be the best dancer she can possibly be, and do as much as she can within dance before she gets to old to carry on. Her current project is Strictly, so its in no way unusual for her to really want to win at this. None of the professional dancers got to where they are today by being happy to make up the numbers.

So what if she's very competetive? I'd much rather see someone come out with a desire to win, than someone who writes themselves off and is happy for middle of the road. In many ways I wish I was more like Natalie myself.

Actually what she said was "I was last year's strictly final I going to be in the that final again this year and I want to hold up the mirrorball"

So therefore she is the same as every other pro there who are all there to win.

When I hear her say it I was wondering how long it would take before someone would she say is being over competitive and so on. Tuesday's not bad - was expecting two seconds after she said it.

What I do enjoy about SCD is that the pros do take it seriously and do want to win all of them.
SCD would completely lose it's edge if they had a couldn't care less attitude.

I understand your theory, but if Natalie toned down the boasting a bit she might not put so many people's backs up and actually win the show.

She's not boasting she just wants to do well. I'm personnally quite glad that she hasn't toned down her competitive nature and stopped being herself just to satisfy whingers who are probably just jealous having never won anything in their lives.

I also second everyone who says that she's actually no worse than any of the other pros, Vincent introduced himself as the best dancer in the world ffs!!!

Yes, but men are allowed to say things like that.

If she said 'I'm totally awesome and fantastic' then I would be rolling my eyes. I don't have a problem with Natalie wanting to win or saying that she wants to. I think they all do. I would probably have more of a problem if she had no motivation or competitive spirit since that's kind of letting their partner down and really not doing their job...

What I find absolutely outrageous is that when a male Pro says they want to win, people go good for them. The minute a female Pro says that, they get a load of abuse thrown their way.

Why is it acceptable for a male to be ambitious, yet when a female dares to say the same or something similar they are automatically arrogant and not nice and too competitive?

*EDIT* Not written very clearly, but you still get the point sort of. If anyone can make my point more clearly then please do.

of course, how silly of me I keep forgetting that women are only on tv in order to provide the men with something to look at.

Oh er! I have opened a can of worms haven't I!! Lol. As librarygirl said, it's the boasting that really gets to me! What about a bit of humility. Yes the others say they want to win and of course they do, but they want to win for their partner as much as themselves. Natalie just comes across to me and my friends as me me me! I feel sorry for poor Scott! He is just a prop. Other pros last weekend tried to choreograph to show their partner in the best possible way. When Scott and Natalie danced, it was very much the Natalie Show!

Er actually the whole thing about Natalie being over competitive last year started because she was so over excited about how good Ricky was and thought he might even be capable of a 10 in the first week so actually she's not all about her.

All pros do one of two things, they either put a routine together to show how good they think their partner is or they put a routine together that hides their partners flaws. If anything I thought that Natalie's routine did a bit of the latter, but she certainly isn't the first and she won't be the last to do that.

It seems to me that you and your friends don't like her because she's 6 foot tall and beautiful with a figure to die for. The fact that she is amazingly talented and successful in what she does is just a bit too much for you to cope with so you have to paint her with a 'horrible' personality.

Hear Hear. Well said. Agree with your BIB too.

I have met Natalie a lot of times now and when she was on the Pro Tour, she was always the one who was really genuinely concerned that everyone who wanted her to sign things, got them, and she was always willing to stay and make sure of that. She was truly lovely and very humble. A really really sweet girl who is very kind and genuine.

Would really love to see her do well - she deserves to.

I'm with you Posy. All that simpering and crying last year got on my nerves, and she has no sense of homour! Ricky would have probably won if he had been with someone like Lilia or Christina.

IMO there's a big difference between saying 'I'm going to win' and 'I want to win', and unfortunately Natalie said the former...

No she didn't - she said "I'm going to make the final again."

I think it must be an Antipodean thing. Brendan and Erin are also pretty competitive and open about it. Nothing wrong with that IMO.
