New HDD for 9200
marsden60

I know this has been asked before but the HDD recommended in other threads are no longer available.

So can anyone recommend a HDD that will work in the 9200? Not too bothered about the size as I find 160GB sufficient.
Unfortunately mine is dieing and I am getting more frequent disc errors.

I would consider a Humax HDR-FOX T2 but at £300 they are still out of my price range!

Thanks

Thanks Max.

I should have put an however on the request.
As in however if there is a bigger drive for similar money I will be interested.

I think if you want larger than 160 GB on a 9200 you will have to get a SATA drive and a SATA to PATA adapter,

? Humax themselves provided the PVR9200TBX with a 320GB HDD. I'm sure upto 500GB IDE drives are available (though admittedly scarce now).

I had spotted this http://www.amazon.co.uk/Seagate-Barr...ef=pd_sim_ce_2 when I followed Max's original link, hence the however reply.
Would this do the trick?

I don't know how much the adapters are, or how much trouble it is fitting them.

Some HDDs aren't suitable for PVRs anyway, for various reasons; I'm not sure what: speed, noise, initial spin-up speed?

It used to be that "AV" drives had thermal recalibration turned off. In a PC, the HDD can carry out thermal recalibration during idle periods - or the PC could simply wait for the HDD to become available again.
Can't do that whilst recording a broadcast stream though, chunks of video would be missing.
