I'm cynical enough to be annoyed at the money and effort the younger fans contributed to A&B's publicity machine.

I'm not and I think that the timing of the split is more likely to do with not wanting to dispel the magic and ruin their show than it being a fauxmance used to generate publicity and support. Perhaps their relationship was in trouble before the recent latin show, they thought they could sort it out (and didn't want to air dirty linen in public before it) and the strain of doing it was the straw that broke the camel's back.

Apart from the obvious fake of James and Camelia I don't think any of the showmances have been fake.

Matt and Flavia are still together, and I'm getting more and more convinced that Joe & Kristina will last as well - wasn't sure last year, but their Hello interview seemed very genuine, as does Kristina when she mentions him occasionally in her blog.

I have to admit I never thought Ali & Brian would last, it was very public, very fast and it was bound to crack eventually when they didn't get any privacy.

When they tried so hard to evade the media by embracing in the park, on a balcony and eating at restaurant tables in the window within a few days of the show beginning. No it was all totally genuine and it is a modern tragedy that it has ended just as their show contract has.

I did have a feeling that Ali and Brian wouldn't last, i understand that the end of a relationship can be very sad and i wish them well for the future individually. The fact that their relationship was so public must have put huge pressure on them. This is why I respect Matt and Flavia's relationship. There relationship isn't public, meaning far less pressure. Good on them for that.

i never got the appeal of this couple - they're both as dull as dishwater & the hero worshipping on the appreciation thread is nauseating.

I really enjoyed their 'showmance' during last year's series, it added a welcome extra dimension for someone for whom romance is but a distant memory - but out of sight, out of mind, I don't care what they do now!
