Oh, I totally agree. If they are at a premiere for their own movie for example, or at an event to prmote their own music or tv show, then yes, that's work related and they should make an effort (unless being subject to abuse, as you say). But when they're just trying to live their private life, they have a right not to be pestered, unless they're clearly trying to draw attention to themselves.
I also agree that they shouldn't expect special privileges because of their fame though. I always remember Kylie saying something like nobody ever wanted to give her anything for free until she was able to afford what she wanted!! Ironic really.
Jim Davidson stopped at a local hotel a couple of years ago when he was doing a 'comedy' show locally. Apparently he was a complete and utter rude t**t. Although I doubt that that is much of a surprise to anyone!
