Who cares? - They've chose the best candidates, does it matter what colour their skin is? they could be all white, all asian, all black, all half cast for all I care, it doesnt make a difference, they were chosen on merit, and whether or not they'd make good TV.

And tbh, there are quite a lot of non-whites on it this year, considering the UK is mostly white.

Good for him. Unfortunately though being Jewish doesn't make him an 'ethnic minority'. Would he write 'Jewish' under the heading 'Ethnicity' on his census form? No, he'd write 'white, British'. Judaism is a religion and in no way an ethnicity - no one is born a Jew. You can either choose to be one, or be told to be one (by parents etc). The same goes for any other religion.

Actually, you can be born Jewish - you can be an Atheist Jew, a Catholic Jew, but if you were born to Jewish parents you will always be Jewish. It's more than a religion, really. Obviously, not everyone 'born Jewish' considers themselves to be Jewish, but in some the circles I've been in being Jewish doesn't have all that much to do with religion, although it can do of course.

I know this isn't strictly an 'ethnic' minority, but it means that half the contestants (to my knowledge) are a minority this year.

No. Judaism is just a religion. If people want to believe it's more than that, that is up to them. It is impossible to be born Jewish, just as it is to be born Christian or Hindu, or Muslim or anything else. Every person is (for all intents and purposes) agnostic when born and either makes a decision, or in the case of the religious, the decision is made for them.
'A Jew for life', is rubbish. There is nothing, other than a belief in the Jewish Faith that makes someone a Jew - as soon as they stop believing in Judaism, they stop being a Jew.

I have Jewish parents but I stopped believing in the religion a long time ago. I still think of myself as a Jew - eat Jewish food, relate to Jewish people, use Jewish expressions...

Jews may not be a race but they share more than just religion. I think you have to experience being Jewish to understand this.

That's deeply patronising. Choosing to follow the Jewish lifestyle but not following the religion does not make you a Jew. Judaism is no different from any other religion or denominations.

Agree with all the above, as it exactly how I would classify myself. Sorry Fred, but it is an inherent thing - a culture as much as a faith. And yes, whether you choose to pursue this, your born into it. There are plenty of people of ALL religions who have been persecuted because of the religion they were born into, and were not given the chance to say 'hold up a sec, just becuse mum and dad were Jewish/Islam/Catholic etc, that doesn't make me one' before facing a nasty end.

Anyways, back to the topic and lecture over. Can confirm Melissa, Alex and Joy are Jewish, and although he hasn't 'come out', am sure Jamie is as well, rather than of mixed race.

back to the subject im black and i personally dont care hopw many non whites they have in it i watch it when im bored lol.

if i went on apprentice i wouldnt be going on it to represent black people i will be representing myself, im not sure if your black but for me persoinally i cant stand when people say he/she has to represent his entire race or culture. why cant people be judged as individuals?
