Really great list. Your efforts were not for vain! This list really helps!
My list is below, but just have to say I haven't watched that many of her videos yet (about 10), especially the old ones, so after I watch them all this list may completely change!

My fave videos are currently:
.1) Like a Prayer- Didn't really like the song but after seeing the video, completely fell in love with it; get the message and is now one my favourite Madonna songs.
2) The Power of Goodbye- The video is so beautiful and completely matches as well as enhances the song
3) Ray of Light- I've only recently seen the video and for the first time, the video looked like how I thought it would and completely exceeded my expectations. Absolutely amazing. Loved the message..
4) Frozen: Dark, bleak, poignant and beautiful
5) Bedtime Stories: Random, excessive, crazy genius
6) One of the first Madonna videos I remember watching-so is this high for nostalgic purposes only.

I'll tell you my new list after I watch all the videos!

I wanted a few tracks but it works out cheaper buying the 2cd celebration cd. So I just ordered it. Didn't realise until I saw the tracklisting how many Madonna tracks I like.

there was a rather nice limited edition Japanese singles boxset released a few years back, I would have loved to own one of those but they usually go for about £200+ on ebay.

Brilliant thead-thanks.

Top 3.

Fav video-Vogue-it defines a definitive moment in time circa 1990 and to me how amazing clubbing was between 1991 and 1996 (ie over the top, amazing music and getting on your best outfits for a Saturday night/Sunday morning party time

Followed by Like A Prayer-the bit with the choir in particular I love.

Followed by Express Yourself-simply stunning.Metropolis to a house beat-only M would be so outrageous.

She's had up and down success in America. How does Mariah do compared to Madonna in the US charts? I can't imagine Mariahs reaching so low.

Because America act all prudish and get offended by anything sex. Madonna's main imagine has been sex and religion. Mariah has never been controversal. Always safe. Madonna has been anything but safe. She said it was the fact Britain 'got her' that made her fall in love with us.

Madonna is also the female with the most no1s in the Uk

And wordlwide in terms of sales, she is the biggest female of all time

Also has the record for highest earning tour.

Perfectly exemplified by the massive difference for Human Nature. A song which deals with why is sex taboo.

pure and simple...I LOVE MADONNA!!!

her video's were and are always really different and regularly are on an EPIC scale! i always find it difficult to choose a favourite!

Deeper and Deeper for me is not only a HUGE song but a massively underrated masterpiece of a video! it was Madonna meets Warhol.

Like A Prayer...timeless!

Express Yourself, like a mini film, this is how a video is done!

Vogue!

Hung Up/Sorry, with the docu-musical type appearence and both back to back it's a thrilling experience!

i love the message of Ray Of Light's video, very much like the song...HUUUUUGE!

4 Minutes is a strange one too, it's very frenetic and heavy like the song but also vibrant and thrilling (like the song) the whole idea of a scene/shadowy figure eating everything up is an intriguing concept.

I LOVE Give It 2 Me's video, it was limited by Warners' budget but it was very 80's in vibe and very slick in direction considering! while i prefer the anthemic vibe of the song, the video is really good! i love the call back's to Lucky Star and Hung Up!

Oh Father by David FIncher (also did Bad Girl and Express Yourself) is very much a noir spectacle of a video! really encaptured the vibe of the era.

and of course...RAIN! just so beautiful like the song, very ahead of it's time and slickly made.

but for me that's just the tip of an incredible iceberg! and i cannot wait for the next lot

Celebration should have been three disks

The 3rd disk could have been:

1. Hanky Panky
2. Bad Girl
3. Causing a Commotion
4. True Blue
5. This Used To Be My Playground
6. Nothing Really Matters
7. Give It 2 Me
8. Deeper & Deeper
9. Oh Father
10. Angel
11. You'll See
12. Human Nature
13. The Power Of Goodbye
14. What It Feels Like For A Girl
15. Get Together
16. Bedtime Story
17. Rain
18. *new song* Broken (I'm Sorry) or It's So Cool.

That is how the Greatest Hits should have been.

I'm totally in agreement with this!

God knows why she released a 1CD edition They should have had a 3CD edition instead. To be honest she had enough hits to fill a 4CD edition!

Back to the videos though, i'm a huge Madonna fan so i'm a bit biased, but I do absolutely love the majority of her videos. Bedtime Story, Nothing Really Matters, Bad Girl, Justify My Love and WIFLFAG are probabbly my favourites.

I'd have loved to see a proper video for Rescue Me. One of her most forgotten hits that I absolutely love.

I have her Celebration DVD and 'The Ultimate Collection' boxset which collectively cover about 95% of all her vids

Maybe there holding back on songs like True Blue, Playground etc that didnt make Celebration and release them on another GH when she Retires maybe.

I agree the The whole Sex era from madonna really made an impact and is iconic.

^^^ that would be an exceptional tracklist!!! it's so dificult for her in particular as she has the largest back catalogue of ANY artist really, i mean even with that 3CD tracklist some faves are still ommitted like Jump, Fever and Human Nature for example.

But that tracklist for CD 3 if there was one would be brilliant!

I'm not sure who owns the rights to her music but now she's left Warner and if Warner hold the rights then I think there's every chance we could see more GH compilations in the near future.

I may be wrong, but i'm pretty sure Madonna still has a say in what happens to her songs. Don't quote me on it though

in other words....never gonna happen then hehe!

but when she has completed her contract with her next record company (say in 10-15 years time or something) they should ensure that Madonna's back catalogue of albums and demo's from each era are remastered like The Beatles and ROlling Stones and Fleetwood Mac have done this past decade.

On disc the original album remastered and disc 2 remixes and demo recordings remastered, and have all her studio albums up to that point in one box set too! and a compilation of singles not available on a studio album on one disc...that would be EPIC!

yeah i think she secured the rights to her recordings with Warner...they are her songs after all

so she has everything she released from Warner still! for tours and future compilations etc. so all good in the hood.

god its hard to imagine Madonna will be in her 60's when this contract expires i wonder if she would retire though i dont think she would, i mean shes still going now and people said when she was 50 she would retire, i can see her doing alot more tours though then new albums which is good cause im sure any tour she does will Sell out shes got that much songs she can at least make 2 or 3 tours without having a new album.
