Joe McElderry "the wanted make me cringe"

Oohh Joe's got his claws out for the wanted who go up against him in both the singles and album charts.

He says their promise to pose naked if they get to No.1 is "cringey" and he'll let his music do the work.

What do you make of that? I'm surprised he'd target a group with such a massive, young female fanbase. Could it backfire?

What an idiot. Shows how deluded the X Factor types are, once again.

Yeah, he's not gonna have any gimmicks when he releases his song is he - the attention on him is absolutely nothing to do with him being an X Factor winner, and of course he wasn't guaranteed a sale-sponging live performance on the show by The Puppetmaster, was he? Pathetic.

I'm guessing his single will be available for download straight after his performance, right?

Joe, who will appear on this Sunday's X Factor has taken a swipe at the lads, telling The Sun "They've pulled out a gimmick... why don't they do it when they're not promoting something?"

I don't think he's having a go, I reckon he just wants to see them naked without them having to top the charts first!

Yeah because his coming out wasn't strategically planned to act as hype for his debut?

I agree with him though, it was cringey. They look like awkward teenagers caught off guard in the changing room.

Why shouldn't he have an opinion? He is a good singer and doesn't need to pose naked or do anything stupid like that.

It makes me cringe when celebrities promoting things start 'blasting' (to use DS's ridiculously over-used word) other celebrities to get publicity.

maybe if joe did a full frontal id buy his single for him.

You guys actually believe this. The article even got it WRONG about the release date - his single is not up against The Wanted. Come one, you know they are just building a story around both of them and making stuff up so they can make a "selling" story for the ignorant.

But in general, I think this whole getting nake for number 1 is pathetic to be frank. Why?!! What artist does that?!

Joe and Jay from The Wanted are having a laugh about this on Twitter. People really ought to lighten up

Agreed.

It just comes across as petty and immature, even if they make a valid point.

If I were in the public eye, I'd just keep my mouth shut and let my talent speak for itself. Notice that truly talented artists rarely appear in the tabloids "blasting" anyone, they just get on with their own career.

That is NOT the artist's fault right. It's the media.

As it was proven, both Joe and Jay from the Wanted had a laugh about it. It clearly showed that Joe did not say it like that and shows that the media are trying to create something out of nothing to build "juicy" stories.

Also, in general, ALL artists have been circulated in the media and "blast" others off (but again that is the media taking things out of context and building a story to sell, however, sometimes it is very true like Kanye West vs. Taylor Swift).

Jay-Z vs. 50 cent.
Kayne West vs. Taylor Swift.
Pink vs. Christina

at least the wanted song isn't a cover, or is it? I dunno?

As well as

Whitney Houston's "I will always love you" (Dolly Parton)

Florence and the Machine "You Got the love" (Candi Staton)

Almost every song on the first Rolling Stones LP is a cover. Six out of fourteen tracks on the first Beatles LP are covers.

"Please Mr Postman" is a cover.

"Twist and Shout" is a cover.

Elvis Presley's "Blue Suede Shoes" is a cover.

Aretha Franklin's "Respect" is a cover.

yes but he criticises the wanted and then says he'll let the music do the talking when his version isn't that much different, seems a bit hypocritical to me.

Umm... Did you read the valid facts from above? It's a media tabloid "juicy" story.

Again, as I mentioned from above, both Joe and Jay from The Wanted laughed about it. Joe mentioned he only said about not being topless and both had a laughable dig at the story.

I hope you don't believe everything that the media try to spin at you as true like "Cheryl will conquer the world!"

On a side note, his version is pretty different and that is pretty clear as well.

i for one would be more than happy to see The Wanted naked
(and i think joe protests too much )

It is extremely desperate though. It's like if you want a number one, make this claim, then do a photoshoot where you go shirtless. Job done.

What will they be promising next?

Joe is more talented that all of the singers in The Wanted put together. He's right; they shouldn't rely on nudity to sell records.

And Joe McElderry relying on an association with a downmarket talent show is any better?

The difference between all those covers and Joe's is that the others were better than the original. Joe's is not, because he should be on a stage at Butlins.
