The Wanted make me cringe... full stop. They're lucky they've got good songwriters and good producers who make their recorded songs sound half decent... they're totally crap live!!!

"Please Mr Postman" is a cover.

"Twist and Shout" is a cover.

Elvis Presley's "Blue Suede Shoes" is a cover.

Aretha Franklin's "Respect" is a cover.”

How irrelevant.

The Beatles needed covers in order to get their music out there as a fresh young new band after spending years slugging it out in trampy cellars, and abroad.

This young **** already has enough publicity to come out with a brand new song - instead SyCo has went with the tried and trusted "let's give the winner a cover" even though the only true successful reality contestant - Leona Lewis - launched with a great original track.

He'll never learn.

But please, do not bring the Beatles or other great musicians into this - they had covers for entirely different reasons.

This guys cover is just sheer laziness.

I think the point of the post was just to point out how hypocritical so many people are when they criticize people for covering or sampling a song.

Like they criticize someone, but then go on about how awesome Alicia Keys's version of Empire State of Mind is, or how awesome Bad Romance is.

It's just really sad.

Everyone covers songs, everybody samples, everybody gets inspired by others. It's music! It's an art! There's absolutely nothing wrong with sampling or covering a song.

How is the list of covers irrelevant when it is ALL true. Don't make excuses for other artists when it is exactly the same thing. If you are making excuses for the Beatles for releasing a cover than you have to be fair to Joe and the Beatles, given their HUGE initial appeal, have NO excuse for releasing a list of covers as well if you are making this argument.

Don't be playing favorites and be fair.

The Beatles made some decent covers where as the helium sucking chipmunk aka Joe, destroys covers. Joe is that bad, he makes Glee sound half decent.

Joe once said on radio that Rage Against the Machine were awful and was not real music! The little scamp is deluded because Rage have more talent than he will ever know.

So, in about 6-7 years time Joe is going to be one of the most influential and experimental musicians out there?

Lets see joe sell records without a shamless cover and fiX-factor performance

Rage have been around longer than Joe will be. When he sells out stadiums like Rage, then he can complain.

He has to be careful not to offend talented artists when he hasn't been around for long, otherwise he will find himself flipping burgers or having to appear in the dire Shortland Street- well Adam Rickitt ended up on this naff show, and it's co-produced by FremantleMedia, who do X Factor. That soap is so utter drivel now that I've given up on it and most New Zealanders feel embarrassed by it (bit like the Aussies with Neighbours).

And you know it was exaggerated like this story. And he NEVER said it was "not real music", if the TABLOID newspaper is to be true, he said "it's not my kind of music". And that's not insulting and just a difference of opinion.

My sister hates Rap songs and find them annoying, but that's ok; it's her opinion and her taste in music.

I wouldn't say the chance to promote your single in front of an audience of around 13 million is tacky; taking your shirt off to flog more CD's is much tackier.

Without the x factor plug his single would flop, joe releasing another cover song.

2 songs so far and both cover versions....yeah the guy is really talented

It's not his fault that he is releasing covers. It's his managment/record company's fault. Releasing a cover doesn't take anything away from his talent.

Er, yes many! You might have to look elsewhere other than the mainstream chart for quality song writing these days but to say that not many artists release original songs is total rubbish.

I can only hope you are REALLY young with very little exposure to music beyond the Top 40. I despair sometimes, I truly do.
