Jean Michel Jarre
I know it's a longshot but is anyone seeing Jean Michel in his current tour?
I got bought tickets for this Sunday at the O2 and I'm looking forward to it. I previously saw him at Destination Docklands and also at Wembley Stadium. It can't be underestimated what an impact he had on my musical taste development which later evolved from electronica into dance/trance in one direction and soundtracks in the other. His music brings back powerful memories of the times when before the internet and the chance to chat with fellow fans my sense of isolation seemed greater. |

Saw him on the Oxygene 7-13 tour at the NEC in Birmingham (June 1997).
Good gig. Like most old electronica acts their finest days are behind them and I don't really care for the the new music they produce now. However credit where credit's due. |

I know this is an old thread, but my first ever experience of listening to any music by Jean Michel Jarre was in the late 1990s. I was at my grandparent's house and I asked my nanna if I could listen to a tape I had found in the cupboard whilst looking for paper and the first song that played on the tape was this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sj7A8SX7ccI A creepy, but truly amazing experience listening to that song for the first time back in the late 1990s as a kid!

'Oxygene' was the first one I heard by JMJ and by far the best - his subsequent work didn't generate the same interest for me.

I've heard a couple of previews of Jarre's new studio album (with collaborations such as Gesaffelstein) and I'm impressed with his 'Conquistador' track. Does anybody know if Jarre's new album will be a physical release, ie CD, or will it just be download only?

I too was lucky enough to attend Destination Docklands, and have been a fan for many a year.
Also being a fan of Trance, I am loving his new track Stardust with Armin van Buuren. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pRwYx8w1clk |

Also being a fan of Trance, I am loving his new track Stardust with Armin van Buuren. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pRwYx8w1clk It's very much more a van Buuren track than a Jarre one, the Jarre sound only really kicks in at 3:05, but it's still really good. The thing with van Buuren, he doesn't have much chart success in this country, but he does more or less exactly the same now as Calvin Harris, except that Harris has a better contact book for rappers and vocalists with which to create hits. As for Jarre, I think the guy is a genius - all this Retrowave/Synthwave that's coming out these days owes as much to him as to the cooler names to drop like Kraftwerk and Tangerine Dream. |

BBC iPlayer's stream of 'T In The Park' has Above & Beyond's DJ performance of Jean-Michel Jarre's & Tangerine Dream's collaboration 'Zero Gravity' track at 8 minutes in to the start.
Great tune. |

Great interview with the man himself on Radio 6 talking about his inspirations and his first times at experiencing his first bought synthesiser, his first EP release (with music excerpts of his pre-Oxygene days), mass-concerts, etc.
Still currently available to listen to via iPlayer: http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b06dwdx2 I'm looking forward to his new studion album Electronica, released next week with collaborations with Tangerine Dream, Vince Clark, Little Boots, Above & Beyond, film director and composer John Carpenter, Laurie Anderson, and others.. |

Electronica 1 : The Time Machine an interesting album for more than one reason.
Others have found images in the "Continuous mix" version of the album. (spectrogram) It's really cool ![]() A few appear in the extra pieces of music between the individual tracks. Electronica 1 is available on CD, vinyl gatefold, download and special boxsets. Can't wait for part 2. I've been a fan since Oxygene too. |

Well Eugene, I'm not here to entertain you. If you want that type of thing, go and see Jean Michel Jarre or someone.

I really like the album, Jarre has been away too long.
All the tracks can be found on his Vevo channel on Youtube. I especially like the two tracks with Vince Clarke, the tracks with John Carpenter and Air plus the vocal track with Moby. https://www.youtube.com/user/JeanMic...ichelJarreVEVO |

If you have Apple Music you can stream or download the first two tracks. Can't wait for the PSBs, Yello and Zimmer collaborations! But there's no sign of the track he was working on with David Lynch, or another with Deadmau5 (although the latter was very recent and so the track listing for this may have been finalised beforehand and it may turn up elsewhere. And there was also meant to be an EP with all three parts of the Pete Townsend collaboration, only one of which appeared on part 1...
