Hi,
Same problem here on Sony Bravia TV. All else working but just get 'temporarily cannot access server'.
Hope someone sorts it out soon

Noticed this on my Bravia television yesterday, and I see that the iPlayer is still not working today,at around 11am at least.

I had started to rely on the iPlayer on my Sony Bravia television, that is to say,not record content, thinking that I can watch it,on the player, some time.

Now I find that,it may not be there when needed, what a shame,Sony have to do better than that, roll on 'YouView'.

I have the same problem with a Sony Blu-ray player

The iPlayer website is currently displaying an error message 'Error 500 - Internal Error'. Problems with Sony kit may be linked to the main site problems (although I've only just seen it manifest).

Although I've managed to get into iPlayer a couple of times this week my Sony BDP-S570 Blu-ray player now seems to try to load the regular BBC iPlayer website and not the 'big screen' version. This results in a 'There is not enough memory' message and the site crashes.

Is anyone else seeing this problem or are most people now happily able to access iPlayer?

As discussed on the home entertainent thread, the redirect to the Web version of iPlayer only appears to be affecting Virgin Media broadband users, and could be a deliberate policy implemented by Virgin.

Virgin is one of the parties taking action against YouView via OFCOM at present as they see it as a threat to their business model (i.e. it deters customers from paying for a TV package).

This could be an early example of the stance Virgin will take with these free services - i.e. Web versions via PCs are acceptable, but big screen versions intended for TVs will be blocked.

As mentioned previously I have been getting a 'not enough memory' message when using a BDP-S570 Sony Blu-ray player to access the BBC iPlayer.

This is because it is trying to load the regular PC front end and not the 'big screen' player.

The problem seems unique to Virgin Media ISP customers.

Sony have asked if you are a Vigin Media customer and are experiencing similar issues to please contact them through their UK website.

Latest communication:

I am sorry to advise this matter is still being looked in to, we currently have a total of 4 customers who have contacted us in relation to this issue, so far all of you have two things in common, first the Sony players and then Virgin Media as an ISP, as the Player does not control the content it receives from the BBC, we have raised this issue with them directly, it would appear a hand shake is failing between the BBC and the player and the incorrect web link is being provided.

All we can advise for the time being is it is being investigated as an urgent matter, if you are a member of any forums where others are having the same issue, could i request you ask them to follow same process you have, the more we can give foundation to the issue the better.

I am sorry I cannot be of greater assistance on this occasion, however I hope that my e-mail has gone some way to clarify this matter.

Yours sincerely

My s370 loaded up the wrong screen and had the not enough memory message too last night, I think I pressed return on the remote and it loaded up the correct screen.
