According to The Gruaniad, "A group of frustrated music fans want Weezer to break up, and they're willing to pay them. Claiming the band has never improved on their 1996 album Pinkerton, the organisers of a new campaign hope to raise $10m to convince Weezer to pack it in and stop "disappointing" fans. "This is an abusive relationship," the project's creator said. "It needs to [end]."

"I'm tired of it," James Burns explained to Seattle's the Stranger. "Every year, Rivers Cuomo swears that he's changed, and that [Weezer's] new album is the best thing that he's done since Pinkerton, and what happens? Another pile of crap like Beverly Hills or I'm Your Daddy." Instead of leaving snarky comments on the internet, Burns is urging like-minded haters to put their money where their mouths are. "I beg you, Weezer," he said. "Take our money and disappear."

Burns has a long way to go. At the time of writing, he has raised a grand total of $273 (£172) toward his $10m (£6.3m) goal."

I wonder if we could raise the £34.95 required for the 'Sugababes' to do the same

I think the fans are right about Weezer though, I really liked Buddy Holly from their debut

Sadly Weezer have just cancelled their tour due to the singer being involved in a car accident- poor timing for the campaign

I only know one Weezer song - Beverly Hills. I loved that song when it was released

it would do them the world of good, The Blue Album and Pinkerton don't deserve to be in the same discography as everything else they've done.

This is just dumb.

Weezer have had some great albums since Pinkerton and these idiots always have the choice of not listening to the band instead of whinging about them.

I'll be honest and say I thought Raditude outright sucked, listened to it once and it's been gathering dust since. But all their other albums have had moments.

Pork and Beans was a great track.

Weezer fans are some of the most annoying fans ever, whining about everything that isn't the blue album and pinkerton. Pinkerton is my fave album of theirs but they have made plenty of good tracks from their following albums.

On a side note, Weezer were the best band at Reading by far this year.

Pork & Beans is an awesome track, the Red Album is rubbish however.

To be honest, Weezers latest release (Hurley) is possibly their best album since Pinkerton. I think there's only 2 dud tracks in my opinion, and "Unspoken" would not sound out of place on Pinkerton.

The car accident is pretty old news, Rivers is fine now. They're planning a Blinkerton tour where they play the entire Blue Album+Greatest Hits on one night, then the next the entire Pinkerton album+Greatest Hits. Pretty awesome really, just need to bring it to the UK.

It might not be Glastonbury, but Middlesbrough Music Live is not shitty

The new album, Hurley, is awesome. Easily the best since the Green Album. I don't see why people think they've had such a massive drop off in quality. I mean, Pinkerton will always be the best album, but the rest haven't been that bad at all.
