Totally fed up with Digital Spy one-size-fits-all format

The huge advantage of the much maligned BBC Strictly boards was that you could quickly zoom back to the threads you regularly contributed to, have a quick dekko at anything new, and cheerfully ignore the rest. But on DS you have to scroll down and down a single list - very linear and old-fashioned.

Once this competition really gets going, there will be dozens of new threads every weekend, while all existing threads get hopelessly long.

It's now taking too long to find back conversations that interested me two days ago. So, I can either do a David James (multiple exits while avoiding the thrown tomatoes) or keep my patience in check. I think it's going to be the veg.

If you Subscribe to a thread (Thread Tools -> Subscribe To This Thread) then you'd be able to keep it on your subscriptions (which is under Quick Links) and you can zoom in on it through that.

Alternatively, you could go through your post history (right click on your user name -> Find More Posts by ...) to find the thread you were talking on.

Took me a year to realise this!
It does speed up the browsing no end.

I tried the BBC board a year or two ago and found it useless for browsing.
Each to his/her own!

Dorabella why didn't you just ask about something is done, rather than start a negative and inaccurate thread?

As Fudd points out clicking on Quick Links is very useful, but the easiest way to find your way back to threads you posted on, is just to click on User CP at the top left hand side of the screen and you'll see a list of every thread you have posted on and they will be in the order of when the last post was made. Titles in bold means there is at least one reply since you last posted. Just make sure your preferences are set correctly in your User CP. We were all newbies once and DS is a pretty well organised board with plenty of functionality - unlike the BBC boards. The worst thing about DS is the range of smilies!

I think the best thing about DS is the range of smilies!

I regularly post on another forum and the smilies bouncing and wriggling across the page get on my wick!

LOL! I LOVE the animated smilies!

There are two of my favourites and I suspect you will hate them!

As others have mentioned, thread subscriptions are a great way to keep track. You can enable these by default in User CP -> Edit Options (be sure to turn off email digests unless you really want them) and then track the threads you've contributed to on the User CP homepage.

I thought everybody had a little arrow sticking out of the envelope on the threads you have posted on ? And if there is a reply since you have read it the envelope is yellow and open , the ones that have no new posts since you read it are blue .
It might not be the most technical post on this thread but that how I see it and I thought everyone did ?

There are quite a few ways of keeping track- the only problem is that DS could do with a better "how to use DS" section.

Thank you from me too - I didn't know any of this and it's going to enhance my ds experience no end.

Mods are you listening? A 'How to' page which you automatically received with your registration e-mail and/or had a link on the left would be much appreciated!

I just keep a tab open if there's a thread I really want to keep track of. On Firefox this can cause problems, frequent crashing for example. Now using Opera I can have about 20 tabs open without crashing.. Press F5 to refresh.
