Hi all , was wondering if anyone could help ?? I have had my vision box for about a month now. My internet connection and skysports and espn that I have are all working great. However, every couple of days, my bt vision box wont come on if its been left on standby or if I try to play back a recorded programme the screen goes blank. The only way I can watch a recorded programme or get the box to come is to reboot it again ( switch off at the mains). After this its works fine again, but the same thing happens every few days. Does anyone else have this trouble? Will a software update help? Or is the box just faulty and needs to be returned ??

When I am not at home or asleep I do switch off the internet connection at the bt hub -- would this be causibg the above problem ?

Any help would be greatly appreciated !!

What would you personally prefer to use to record TV?

something that is reliable, My old VHs never missed anything.

come to think of it, my DVd recorder is pretty reliable as well, but it only got a analogue tuner. I got my old Grundig freeview box back, so I am going to connect that up to it tomorrow.

The only problem is the remote is broken and i can't find my universal one.

i may look at prices for DVd recorders, they seem to work better than PVR's

Noise, if your Grundig box is old, how do you know if it is digital channel enabled? Without the remote?

If was me, I'd just buy a new Freeview box for twenty quid.

Then hook your VHs up to it.

Digital channel enabled? no idea what you mean, it is a digital box, so of cause it is digital channel enabled

If you mean will it work now as the system changed since it was new, then yes it still works. the remote does work, but got a problem with the ok button, The box is already tuned to a certain degree, it have not been touched in the last 6 months I must admit.

It will be hooked up to a DVd recorder not a VHS, my VHS is packed away, no doubt will ever be used again, just like my Betamax in the loft

5 weeks ago, or something like that, 31st August. Still wondering why i bothered., still the same crap on.

My PVr gave up today, got to decide if it is worth replacing.
I may cancel my t.v licence in the next couple of months and go back to not bothering with T.v.

Its quite likely to be a contributory cause of the problem because there is chat between the Vision box and the BT servers even when you're not using it. Additionally the EPG uploads via broadband overnight, so that won't remain up to date and consequently the PVR may not record what you requested.

Try leaving the internet connection up for a week and report back whether the crash situation has improved.

Obviously not "another unreliable PVR". BTVision depends upon a constant ip connection just as it does electric.

BTVision is NOT an intrinsically unreliable service - I think the sheer lack of posts here regarding that prove it.

Fair enough

It is better now, the problem is that the few people I know that had BTVision only one still got it. the others have either gone for Sky due to Sky doing cheap broadband here now or just changed broadband suppliers, so can't have BTV.

Oh well never mind.
