There seems to be a real renaissance in classic cocktails at the moment.
I recently bought a book/app called Speakeasy Cocktails and it has a particular emphasis on the classics. Think gin rather than vodka and Martini and Negroni instead of 'Cosmo' (ptooh!

).
I've always liked Margaritas, although I can't touch even one on a school night

. Pimms has always been a weakness on a hot day and a properly mixed G&T, made with Bombay Sapphire and Fever Tree tonic water hits the spot. On occasion, nothing goes as well with a fry-up as a Bloody Mary.
Lately I've become partial to a Negroni as an aperitif and I'm about to get a bottle of Old Tom gin in order to mix my own Tom Collins and Gin Rickey.
I've never been a whiskey drinker but I do fancy trying a Sazerac, solely because it was James Bond's other drink.
I probably sound like right old lush here - in reality, I have a Bloody Mary about four times a year. However, as I get older and drink less, it seems more important to drink the good stuff when I do indulge.
