No colour

Have a Dual brand DPVR801, T816.
The problem is that there is no colour either on playback or on the channels when watching through the pvr.
If the pvr is reset or unplugged from the mains for a short time the colour returns, but not for long.
Has anyone else come across this problem, and is there a way to fix it?
Thanks in advance
David

I had this a while ago turned out it was the scart socket on the back of the tv,

if you have two scarts on your tv, swap it over and see.

Could also be a loose solder joint on the scart socket on the PVR, since there are not supported by anything - just the solder. Another possibility is a dodgy scart lead.

Just to add to my previous hints, have you tried playing with the video output setting on the T816? If colour works with RGB or CVBS, or vice versa, it could give some extra clue as it being scart related.

Coincidentally, I noticed tonight that the right audio channel had stopped working on my T816, although it worked fine from the VCR socket on the T816. On closer inspection inside the solder joints were fine - it was actually pin 1 on the scart socket that had completely sheared off. The scart lead on mine is well supported too and has not been moved for months. Easily fixed with a soldering iron though.

Thanks for the suggestions. The problem seems to have cleared for now, but this was after trying it on another TV and then with another scart lead, so it may well be that there is a poor connection somewhere.
I'll wait to see if it happens again then try to narrow it down,
Thanks again.
