I too cringed for Ian and Darren. What a demotion to end up as just a dancer in the professional group!! Good grief, both of them were good teachers, Darren won the competition and Ian came second yet there they are discarded!! Now I have seen the Results show I think this new producer has gone bonkers!! WHY CAN'T the BBC leave a successful show ALONE"""§§§§§§ AGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH We do not want an American Version of Strictly, thanks very much!!!!

Loving the new series of strictly, but big thumbs down to the results show from me!”

My feelings exactly.

All tension is lost with the sectioned results, the dance troupe was a waste of time, and the silly idea that this was supposed to be live with mentions of Saturday, yesterday and sunday (yes, we all know that it took place on Saturday).

I will not be watching again.

The Sunday show was very much an anti climax for me.

Very flat and messy with all that splitting up of the results, it made for no tension at all.
The elimination should have been at the end of the show all together not piecemeal.

Tess was not great on her own and they really didnt give Claudia much to do.

The Dance Troupe didnt do anything for me. It seemed a waste of time and talent to have two of the best professionals wasting their dance ability

Overall a big thumbs down..

My personal results show after this week will start a minute or so after the broadcast one finishes. It will be on Sky+ and last approx 5 minutes

Now either there is a greasy firemans pole and rope ladder out of shot to facilitate all this faffing around from stage to balcony or the beeb are taking the proverbial. ”

I was there on Saturday and it is actually filmed in 'real time' - what I saw on Sunday was what I sat through on Saturday - apart from Robbie

I was watching the cube on ITV and still managed to flick over when that finished to catch the relevant bits (who the bottom two were and who ended up leaving). Of course I already knew this anyway due to the show not being live and spoilers being out in the wild for all but the two people watching who don't have internet access. Seems ludicrous to me to have a results show filmed a whole 24 hours before it is broadcast in front of an audience who will be straight on twitter or here as soon as they can.

I gather from this thread I didn't miss too much by watching the cube anyway, especially as it managed to inject some thrill and excitement as the contestant was so close to winning the jackpot when if I watched SCD there would have been none as I already knew the outcome

I don't understand the strong feelings. It was functional, similar to DWTS.

maybe so but the producers think that that makes compulsive viewing my only real critisism of it is it's to long and drawn out.

I guess that if we want to watch something similar to DWTS, we would simply watch DWTS.

Perhaps they liked it and wanted to try the same. But they must know by now there are people who will moan when the sun goes up every morning.

I've never seen DWTS, apart from some clips on Youtube.

Judging the Results show on that basis, its a lot worse than the previous Strictly results show in terms of keeping people interested and providing drama and entertainment.

I thought removing the dance-off was a mistake and this backs that up.

The dance-off only really caused problems in the later stages, so they should have kept it but dropped it when they got down to about 5 celebs.

They should have kept the dance-offs. Gives the show a bit more tension and gives the couples one last chance to impress the judges. The new show is just 30 mins of milking the result, and I for one think the lack of Bruce Forsyth is a big loss to the overall feel of the results show. Tess is no Bruce!

Maybe, however the sun/moan comment cannot go unchallenged of course.

In the case of the SCD results programme, it relates to SCD, and SCD is for a British audience. Therefore it should at least be in the same style as SCD. DWTS is tailored for an American market and American tastes.

Plus, going by the many comments here, the changes were not only unwelcome, they just did not fit in with the programme or the expectations (expectations built up by the better than expected main programme format) and meant that the programme itself no longer flowed and the results sections lost any tension that should have been present.

Others here, myself included, felt that the whole programme was a mess, badly thought-out and far removed from what it should have been (and had been on previous years). That's not moaning for the sake of moaning, or picking on tiny issues They are (I would like to think) heartfelt comments from people who were sorely disappointed with what was offered.

Bruce Forsyth should have done the results show. As people have highlighted, it's not live, it's filmed on Saturday so Forsyth should have done the extra show. If he can do the main Saturday show - which lasted for almost two hours? - he can do an extra 30 mins for the results show. I don't get why they have to make silly changes.

Some people - judges included! - complained about the dance-offs. They argued it was unfair for the public to vote two good dance couples into the dance-off but it added a bit of tension and controversy to the show. IMHO removing the dance-offs is a big mistake.

Bruce did not want to do the results show any more so that is why Claudia does it now. Although on the TV it's only 30 minutes, when filming, it takes much longer and is not done straight after the main show either as there is a break.

It's a strange one now the dance off have been removed as so many people complained about them and now they are gone people complain that they have been removed...a classic no win situation

Awful”

What makes you think Tess was "out of her depth" - are you just repeating what everybody else is saying?

For me the format of the show was a shocker, hated the mid-programme interviews, but Tess was far more assured once Bruce had been packed up in cotton wool and sent home. Really, he needn't come back.

People complain.
they always do.
We could start a thread about it, but then
people would complain about the thread
and ask for it to be modded off, and
then people would complain
about its disappearance .....

People complain.

I thought Tess was fine. Claudia wasn't so good, but from previous shows where I've seen her presenting she never is. She's just too frenetic and nervous and never looks comfortable with what she's doing. I think she's great on ITT, but not a good presenter otherwise.

I strongly suspect that what they're doing with Bruce is winding down his involvement in the show, rather than have him disappear suddenly, which would probably be a mistake. I wonder if by next year he will decide to retire completely?

The first few series of SCD had no dance off.
Can anyone remember how they did the results then?

I'm quite surprised that the not live results show pulled in pretty much the same number of viewers as the live show according to THIS

Was expecting there to be a drop given the results were out there from Saturday night if people looked (or didn't look with one or two threads on here)
