Orange Upgrade due in November - iPhone pros and cons?

Hi guys,

I'm due an upgrade in a few weeks, and just wondering whether:

anyone has had any deals from Orange on the iPhone that may still be relevant for me;
anyone can actually recommend the iPhone 4 as-is, as a heavy duty mobile?
I'm really really torn between getting another Android phone, or taking the plunge into Appledom.

My ideal tariff would be 1200 mins (never use this much but handy to have if all hell breaks loose), unlimited or 2000 texts, and a decent internet limit.

If I need to jump ship, the only option is really to move back to O2 as I can't get a Voda or T signal at home.

Any help, gratefully appreciated

Vodafone will sell you a femtocell to give you 3G coverage in your home. Just plug it into your router.

To answer your first question, I think deals are very unlikely with the iPhone because demand is so high and Apple pretty much controls the price.

Secondly, I would say the iPhone 4 would be a durable phone. I don't bother with a case on mine and never bothered with one on my iPhone 3G which I dropped a few times on concrete. I have had a Google Nexus One and the build quality was not on par with the iPhones and I think most of the other Android handsets are made from cheaper plastics, plus the screens scratch more easily because they use plastic. iPhones have glass screens, glass is pretty hard to scratch, not to mention making the screen a lot more responsive and accurate. Compared to recent Sony Ericssons either are more durable, you just had to look at an SE funny and it would switch off.

I am on O2 and they are good for me. I haven't tried the iPhone on Orange so I can't comment, although most these networks in the UK are pretty much the same anyway.
