So thoughts so far?

Absolutely loved the opening episode - the first time I have done so for any of the four series. Tommy Knight has delivered his best performance to date, and there is a growing maturity to the show, noticeable even at this early stage. The Nightmare Man of the title was brilliantly played by Julian Bleach, in a role not too different to the one assumed by Bradley Walsh - Oddbob the Clown in Series 2. An overall impressive start, and I for one cannot wait until the next episode.

3/5 - Average. A run of the mill episode that tried to much to be creepy and scary but failed. The ghost episode from last year was much more creepy than this and I didn't even like that one. Never the less it was enjoyable to watch despite some cringe worthy lines (i.e every line Mr Smith ever says) and the cast gave some good performances. I wonder what the team got up to in the year between this and Series 3 aswell except battling Slitheens again. The skipping a whole year thing seemed a bit random and just shoved in to be able to get rid of Luke.

What is it with the current TV trend of having College students wearing uniform?. I don't know one College or Sixth Form that actually wear uniforms.

Julian Bleach was great as always, but the story overall was a little lacking something for me. I would go with 3/5 as well for this one.

Having recently finished sixth form, we weren't expected to wear uniform but had to be all suited and booted.

Wasn't a fan of last years ghost episode, but I think that was down to the casting, and a lack of Tommy Knight. Compared to Revenge of the Slitheen, The Last Sontaran and Prisoner of the Judoon, this was TV Gold. I think each series opener improves on the last, although I have to say that so far, each finale has done worse than the last. Here is hoping Series 4 has a level of consistent goodness

Was he the guy who played Davros, because I thought they sounded very similar?

Yes and he also played The Ghostmaker in the Torchwood episode "From Out Of The Rain".

Absolutly loved the episode....can't wait for part two tomorrow....

I watched it with my niece and she was scared as anything...Julian really creeped her out...he did it as Davros, and he did it again here!!!

I felt that the story was quite mature for what is a kids programme...and loved that. With the fears of change being dealt so brilliantly with Lukes nighmares....well the show has made a promising start....and the clips of the future stories look fantastic too!!!

Lucky! I bloody had to in sixth form!

I loved the episode, thought it was really good. Scary enough for kids, but not too scary. The build up seemed quite good and I loved the Torchwood style message to video.

Didn't know it started today...only found out via Twitter.

Not a bad starter. Only negative I had was the appearance of a Slitheen...I know I'm not the target audience for SJA but I can't stand them!

This was by far an exceptional way to set Series 4 off! by the sound of it this is going to be the most excellent series of the show to date!

The Nightmare Man i think is the most daring episode of the show thus far, NOT for the creepy menace that is Julian Bleach's villain himself (again a marvellous act by him! he hits it on the nail with his performances!) but for being so psychologically malevolent and really tapping into the emotions every teen goes through, it's a real journey!

previous year i feel have been very all over the place, series 3 though has been the most consistent thus far with some of the shows best episodes.

The Nightmare Man i give 5/5 already

I quite enjoyed that.

Was the young boy Josh the same actor who played Eliot in The Hungry Earth / Cold Blood?

I thought i recognised him! i think it was

gosh this is the first time since The Wedding Of Sarah Jane last year that i had to REWATCH immediately after, there was stuff i missed the first time, wonderfully directed and i hope Part 2 doesn't let me down...i doubt it will! but it's going to be an emotional one at that!

I have a feeling The Death Of The Doctor episode is going to be rewatched several times too

I thought it was brilliant.

Is the acting playing Luke taking a break then? Exams?

I think so, I think it's because he has exams and he could only film a certain amount of time, therefore they worked it into the plot.

While i am sad he'll be leaving tomorrow (we presume of course!) I love how it'll show Sarah Jane without a son for a while and maybe bring back that previous Sarah Jane from her Pertwee/Baker days and also the chemistry between her Clyde and Rani will be tested too!

Series 4 i think is going to be the strongest year yet for character development! glad i started watching last year

Ahh must be the new search algorithm that they implemented with the redesign that everyone's been moaning about on twitter.

An average episode.

Like others have said so far I'd give it 3/5. Might change when part 2 has been on.

BBC2 actually. Lots of things are getting moved to 2 because of the Commonwealth Games.
