Has anyone that was offered free homeplugs because of the delays, received them yet?

Received with stb on 15/9 (despite email stating that they would be despatched separately).

I raised a ticket on this the other day as I have not received mine. The reply I got was :

'Yes - sorry I dont have any news here - I'll forward your question to info@3view.com and they can update you.'

I have yet to hear anything from info@3view.com in response..

Same here. I'm starting to think it was a non-existent ploy to keep the order.

3View

No homeplugs

No refunds

No respect for their customers

I've been waiting for the plugs since the beginning of September. I keep contacting them but they never answer their e-mails. Have had better luck through the support page on their site though.
Was told that they were being despatched 3 weeks ago then was told they had been sent to someone else.
Spoke to someone yesterday who said she didn't know when they were coming in but it might be 'soon'
I can't connect my box to the net as the router is too far away so have no idea whether it works or use the i-player....i'm really looking forwards to using that.,,,,via the EPR apparently...yeah clever eh.................................what?

Oh crap.

4OD won't work because there is no flash. I guess it takes ages to load because either it is trying to load stuff we haven't got or Bandwidth is limited or slow. Try Youtube. Mine works well as does Bing. Mind you I'm wired as my Home Plugs are yet to arrive,

Sam.

As Samiam says, try Bing and YouTube. Both work fine on my homeplug network.

Homeplugs with Windows 7 professional

When I tried to run the Homeplug installation S/W it complained that there was a missing DLL, so I laid down a wired network. Subsequently Ed told me that the S/W was only used to secure the network.

However the main reason for this post is to warn others about the Homeplug web site. The web site URL listed on packaging and install brochure is no longer valid for that company. Site exists but is malware and Microsoft Security Essentials warns of bad software trying to install.

Speed can vary from plug hole to plug hole, I used a laptop plugged into the (to be) 3 view home plug. I then from the laptop opened my browser and connected to an internet speed testing site (http://speedtest.net) and then tried various combinations of plug holes near the TV and the router till I found the best combination. In my case different ones made a big difference ie less than 2 mbs to over 5 mbs.

Peter

ps yes the software installed is just to change the homeplugs password.

I'll try moving the plugs around, thanks. However youtube works really well so don't think the connection is the problem. Its just crashed again too. Not looking very good.

Anyone else got their promised homeplugs yet? mine haven't arrived.

Do they just turn up or do we have to remind them first?

Homeplugs are crap at going across two circuit brakers because they are a reactivy load and reduce high frequency signals.

So as some have noticed, if you use sockets on the same ring main they are OK as the signal is only travelling along the mains cable.

If the sockets are on two different rings circuits or two different radial circuits and your fuse board does not have the old wired fuse then the speed takes a big hit. Some multisocket extensions also are bad news here.

Thanks for posting that, I had wondered why my server was running relatively slowly.

Now running at double the previous speed in its new location (still well away from the computer in the hope that any low life that takes a shine to the computer won't find my backups...).
