I think it is fair to say that this era is over. I think her focus now is on the film (Burlesque), which has to be good given that album sales haven't been great.

I think she needs to stop trying to change genres for each album. it doesn't work, imo.

If she does do an XF performance do you all think that 'Bionic' sales will pick up at all???

They might pick up a bit but I don't think the album will be charting very high.

I disagree, if she gives a good performance, the album will shoot up the charts, especially since it sold little to nothing.

Maybe. I just think that normally when someone performs on the x factor, their album has already done pretty well...and the x factor helps to give the album an extra push.

Bionic didn't sell well to begin with, very few people have heard of it (I had no idea that she had a new single/album until I looked around on DS).

We'll see.

I know & if I'm honest I was surprised when I heard that she's doing an XF performance because of how 'Bionic' has done.

That's beyond terrible.

You Lost Me is possibly the best song on Bionic.

I really do think all is over for Xtina in the music biz. Waiting four years between albums, an almost total lack of promotion when she finally does release another one, and cancelling her tour has sealed her fate.

I think it's a real shame because I do still think she has a lot of mileage left in her as an artist. So what's gone wrong? Has the record company screwed her over? She was forced to change direction on Bionic or something, wasn't she?

I know...I'm gutted for her!

It's all been a mess, from my knowledge she's only released Not myself tonight and You lost me, so far. The video for not myself tonight was horrendous and not suitable for her younger fans imo, e.g. 11-16 which are part of her target market. The song wasn't strong enough for a comeback single. I haven't got the album and don't plan to buy it..
You Lost Me was alright. Nice video from what I saw, only watched it once. but the song was OK. But I think it's a bit weird she's releasing a ballad so early.
For some reason this 'comeback' has completely messed itself up, I don't understand how she's let this happen as I always got the assumption that she's very much in control of her career. It's a shame really as she's got great vocal ability.

You Lost me hasn't been advertised at all, so it's not a surprise nobody is buying it. Only a few people will know it's being released.

I think it'll get into the top 200 in the charts again though. It actually charted at #155 the same week as Beautiful Monster got to #1. http://www.zobbel.de/cluk/100814cluk.txt

it's such a shame really!

IMO she should have released Prima Donna,Glam or Monday Morning as those would have had huge airplay globally and with huge video's would have certified her comeback, in fact i think they're a few of her greatest anthems ever! certainly for Summer coverage! Then she should have released I Am with a video of the kinda vibe of Fighter, with surrealist imagery, then maybe You Lost Me with a video that accompanied the remix version really.

Christina should have had HUGE promotion in the style Katy Perry did of getting Teenage Dream out there (and Bionic IMO is HUGER an album than Katy's!) it's a very frustrating position.

I can safely say her music career is FAR from over, some people are so OVER dramatic, it's just i think she NEEDS to pull something big out for it.

What should have happened is for her to have released 2 songs with better video's prior to the release of Bionic, then promote (as she did) Stateside, then in the UK have her interview on Wossy, perform at some of the huge SUmmer event (Radio One's Big Weekend, Glastonbury, T4 On The Beach etc.etc. and get Bionic out there) perform an amazing Live Lounge too! and get herself televised on Britain's *shudders* Got Talent which has millions of viewers!

Then perform in Australia (huge fanbase there) go across Asia, then continue to maybe support Leona's Tour as an introduction artist to Leona's tour and travel the States and Europe on a Bionic promo. Then this Winter perform on X Factor, Graham Norton, Alan Carr's Chatty Man and repeat. And then also support Burlesque and we could have seen Bionic at LEAST have gone Platinum with that level of promo!

I hope she tours next year also! You Lost Me i wish would chart higher but NOTHING is promoting it

But why????

This is what I simply do not understand. No company/artist would want to lose money so why haven't their/her PR people (surely she has some?) been putting out any kind of advertising for this album or the singles? It makes no sense.

Exactly why i think it could work in her favour.

Bionic isn't very good at all - after 2 strong albums it's a big let down (B2B should've been a single disc with a few tracks taken off).
A few songs are good on Bionic - Vanity for instance has a FABULOUS beat and melody, but the lyrics are cringeworthy and tacky

Bionic certainly isn't amazing, but it is easily a better album than Teenage Dream and numerous other recently popular releases. It is flawed and I'm not that keen on it, but there's vision, talent, creativity and ambition there that's totally absent or lost in other artists work. What she lacked that the others had were commercial singles.

I guarantee the majority of people would have a dramatic change of tune if it had been a hit, suddenly it would be great.

It's so frustrating, it really is! I have seen no advert at all for 'You Lost Me' either. Normally when an artist has a new single out there's a TV advert (on the music channels especially) so that the single gets plugged but nothing at all for it! No promotion whotsoever!

I'm neither a fan or hater of Xtina, but am always interested in the machinations of the music industry, and it seems to me that the label has just lost interest in her. It's hard to say why - maybe it was the insistence on working with Ladytron, Sia etc., maybe their focus groups said that the married-with-baby lifestyle alienated her core audience, maybe she refused to perform at the MD's birthday party... whatever it was, she was no longer a AAA priority artist.

The cost of recording an album is nothing compared to the cost of marketing one, and the overriding impression I get is that the label just decided to put "Bionic" out with minimal spend, see what the fans thought, and maybe add more spend later... but when it didn't catch fire, they dropped it completely, and I'm going to take a wild guess that this was the point at which the label decided to withdraw tour support, hence the cancellation... right now, they're doing the bare minimum to show they're still pushing the record (releasing singles, making videos), but I doubt they'll be paying her huge sums to support TV appearances...

She's not done as an artist by any means - she easily has the best pipes of any singer out there (if she'd just quit the melisma nonsense and avoid the sappy ballads) and probably just needs to take a long break out of the public eye and come back with a great adult album...

PS personally, "Burlesque" looks to me like some unholy cross between "Showgirls", "Striptease" and "Glitter", but you never know what might happen!

Looks like her team don't think her UK fanbase is worth acknowledgement, then. Charming.

Because none of them know.

Her main mangement and RCA are the problem. Bionic is finished with as far as they are concerned.
