MP3s vs CDs
Not sure if this is the right place for this discussion - if not just let me know where it should be.
Came across this comepitition on Facebook (www.facebook.com/citysocialising) offering £25 of either iTunes or HMV vouchers as a prize. So it got me thinking, which would you prefer to win - the £25 to spend on MP3s or on actually CDs? Reckon I might be a CDs man myself, like to have something tangible. But I'm willing to be persuaded. |

I've always preffered CDs to MP3s. I never download whole albums I always go and buy the CD version, however I find MP3s very handy if you just want single tracks
![]() So in answer to your question, I'd rather have the £25 to spend on CDs

I also buy CDs, the main reason for me is that I can't play MP3s in the car, I can play CDs though.
I still put all the CDs I buy on to my itunes anyway. |

I buy CDs and rip them to MP3. The reason being is that I don't want to pay £8 for some digital files when I can pay £1 more for a CD to be delivered free of charge to my door usually on the day of release. I also like owning something physical as opposed to digital files which are easy to lose.
However, I sometimes get singles in digital format if they're not available on any album. |

I'd pick a cd anyday.Mp3's are crap quality yet people buy them in their millions from Itunes every day.I'm astounded that people can't even hear how bad they are.

I'd guess though that the HMV vouchers would be on anything in the store. Neither HMV near me have any CD's I like.
I received two £15 iTunes gift cards for my birthday, and found it very hard to pick on the many songs I had on my wishlist. There are still loads of songs I still haven't bought yet but have listened to loads (like the albums Zenyatta Mondatta by The Police and Trans Europe Express by Kraftwerk). So, I will opt for MP3. |

Well I don't buy singles whether downloads or actual CD's; I've brought 2 in my life that I can remember. If I like a single then I listen to it on YouTube. With albums I always buy actual CD's because like other posters have said I like having something to show with my money and not a file on my laptop. Then I download them to my computer and then to my ipod. Also they're easier to play anywhere and everywhere on all CD and DVD players, where unlike my stero not all CD playing devices play MP3 download files (on a memory stick or straight from an ipod).
