What low calorie meal options are there? By meal, I mean 'light meal', or something that passes as a meal. I don't mean meat and two veg.

For example, porrige has about 200 calories. Toast about the same. Cereal 200ish too. Two eggs, 160ish. That sort of thing? x

I try to use this rule for an evening meal (as opposed to calorie counting)

The majority of my plate should be either salad or veg, then protein {chicken / turkey etc} my smallest portion should be carbs...

Simples

I do the same, but i just sling out the grains.

You could also have an omelette, yogurt or cottage cheese and fruit, prawns/scallops/tuna/salmon and salad or steamed veggies, a couple of low cal sausages and beans.

Check other threads there are lots more.

Omelette...that's a good idea! Yogurt and fruit would be a lovely combination too, thanks! Will check the others! x

Make sure it's an egg white only omelette. You could put veggies in it though.

Even with the yolk, eggs are low cal and very filling.

You need to balance the body's need for protein, carbohydrates and fats, as well as fibre, vitamins and minerals etc. It's not a simple counting exercise - at least not for long-term health, which is the true cost you need to weigh against short-term loss.

Well, my brother is a doctor that specialises in nutrition, so I'm more than happy to take his word that egg yolk does not cause high cholesterol levels as there is no proven link.

Agree - there is no proof it raises blood cholesterol levels. It has useful nutrients that offset the damage done by it's cholosterol content. I don't think your body even abosrbs most of that dietary cholesterol it contains.
It's saturated fats you have to look out for, which eggs have very little.

Oh well up to you. But egg yolk is a good source of Vitamin A, and D, as well as B vitamins.
It's packed full of vitamins and nutrients...and it's all pretty much in the yolk.

As cymru girl states, it's up to you, but egg whites alone will provide you with virtually no nutritional value.

I am another yolk endorser... it's the bit with the goodness is pretty low calories, and the cholestrol theory has been discredited.
