Well, Michelle has been a big disappointment this year so far, Brendan must be in despair! Been very underwhelmed by Felicity I must say, Vincent is playing it very safe with her. Tina, I'm not sure about, don't she's been given enough to do by her pro partner, whose name I can't remember, which probably says a lot!

I agree, Michelle and Tina definitely. Also (i know he's gone) but I had really high hopes for Goldie which he never quite lived up to.....

Michelle's lack of raw talent won't make a blind bit of difference to Brendan and his delusional complex. He always choreographs just in advance of his partners' abilities as if they will stretch to the demand. Priceless moments include his impression of unfurling a carpet with a disoriented Fiona Philips inside. Bacofoil showdance here we come!

One more viewing notched up Lynxmale! Everytime it's mentioned I have to watch it again!

I won't use the plural and speak for everyone, but I am underwhelmed by Feicity, I thought her partnership with Vincent and her ballroom dancig would be much better than they have been. I had picked her as a dark horse to win, but now I'm not convinced she'll even make Blackpool - she's going to find herself in Goldie-style danger very soon if she doesn't create a dance which has impact!

I'm also disappointed with Michelle, she and Brendan should be very good but she seems to lack a certain amount of confidence and her technique is seriously lacking.

I personally believe Tina would be a lot better with a different pro partner, would have been exciting to see what she and Vincent could have created on the dancefloor.

hi Mystical!

I agree with all of that apart from I am not wondering how much Tina has been affected by the CP she is now suffering from as it incubates for a couple of weeks. She was better last week than the first so maybe not then....

I'd agree with everyone else's comments (particularly gutted about Goldie) but controversially, I'd add Scott and Kara to the mix.

This is mainly because I'm not getting much personality from either of them when they dance, partly because Natalie and Artem are very forceful presences on the floor. Natalie in particular seems to be choreographing routines that leave Scott in the shade (solo spot in the salsa notwithstanding).

It never feels like they're being showcased, and it doesn't feel like much of a partnership either. Paul and Ola, or Peter and Erin, are better examples of teamwork than those guys IMHO.

LL- I agree with you too- but I am trying to keep an open mind about both Kara and Scott as its still early on.

However Scott has irritated me so much with the nan and the j-w ord so early in the series that he may be on the slippery slope already...

Even Matt and Aliona have a really good partnership together and I agree with the poster who said Scott and Kara are their choices for being underwhelmed by.

It's clear some have had training/lessons, some are genuinely new dancers who should progress and then you've got Widdicome/Shilton /Daniels who are crap.

Personally I would say Gavin who I'm underwhelmed by.

Michelle... i dont know i was just expecting much more.. unfairly?

I loved her in DC and was rooting for her before she even muttered the words... "come to momma!" i was like Yay SHES GOT A PERSONALITY!.... but..Ive seen every DC video and she can do routines so not sure what the problem is but i get the impression shes used to having her arse kissed and isnt happy.

Felicity Kendal ive always loved and constantly watch reruns of The Good Life, not sure what that awkward smile/wink/grin thing she does when wrinkling her nose and "smiling" at the judges...might suit a woman half her age..but not her.. shes not the "cute thing" that roles been assigned to Tina...speaking of which i dont feel let down as i never expected much from her anyway...

Gavin... stiff as a board cant seem to "let go" and i dont think he will..

Pamela and Matt have blown me away and loving Patsy as well.

And most others have been much better? I would say 7 of 14 actually had a good edit etc etc. in Week 1. I would wait a bit really. Because she hasn't been overly fun as yet...I hope she gets better. I still like her and think she's good looking for 64 even with botox, even though I don't know if she has had it, her face hasn't changed that much just aged alot. Remember The Good Life, she had the same big cheekbones etc there as well...

Anyway, I hope the Rumba is her time to shine

I think one reason we may be UNDERwhelmed by this year's SCD is that they are all so OLD!!! I too loved Felicity, well her character in The Good Life and other shows but her real personality is a bit pompus and the constant little cute girl routine is a bit bizarre at the age of 60 plus. Gavin is a bit shallow and not exactly Mr Personality. Matthew is a great dancer but now I see in the paper today they are saying he is having fights with his partner and is a bit of a Diva, perhaps they are concerned he is going to kill the competition as he is so good, so early. I remember how bad publicity shattered the chances of an X Factor contestant when it was printed she had a relationship with one of the producers of the show.

Felicity,Vincent is usually such fun on the show.... and even he seems subdued. Michelle also underwhelming.

Ann.

I'm only underwhelmed if people don't try hard enough. They dont have to be good - Peter is working hard and taking the risk of looking bad, but he is not holding back. Paul has his own way of doing things, and he does take stuff home so he can keep working at it, so I think he's doing enough - just.

Gavin had/has a psychological mental block, and if he hadn't shown signs recently of overcoming it, he would be on the list.

Actually for me that is having quite the opposite effect. I would be more underwhelmed if they were all Tina's age. I have enough of young singers or soap hunks to do well. I want to see how "normally abled" people do in the competition. The fact that someone like Pamela (not thin and 60) can move like that and enjoys it, is fantastic. Paul Daniels is over 70 and he can kind of keep up (better than some of the younger people in previous years).

I'm generally agreeing with the majority of people on this thread. Michelle is a bit underwhelming, Tina is a bit underwhelming (I think due to her partner), and Felicity hasn't shone either (not because she is old, but because she is a bit too safe). Gavin doesn't underwhelm me because I didn't think he would be good in the first place, I won't bat an eyelid when he goes.
