Ok IMO there has been far too much sadness in these parts recently so lets share some daft silly smelly stories of our furblobs for some comic relief. Right now my little Elphie is under a shoebox apparently moving by itself around the room and I'm in absolute hysterics, nothing like my puddies to make me laugh x

Good idea

My puss-cat has a girlfriend, who comes each day, sometimes I see her, sometimes not. The other afternoon about 4.30pm, Rolo was busy feeding his face, when Missy (that's what I call her) popped her head round the door and gave him 'the eye'. He looked at her and went up to her and made a little trill to say 'OK I'm coming', she trilled back. Rolo just popped back for a another quick nibble and then ran off outside to play with his girl. It was so sweet to watch them

Maisey moo has gone into heat the vets wont spey her till she is out of it. She thinks my son is a cat and keeps sticking her bottom in the air washing his head as well. She follows him around all the time and howls outside of his bedroom door. She doesnt do this for anyone else also she isnt as friendly as this when she is not in heat. Its like true love she has found her mate now and isnt interested in anything else. Roll on the time i can spey her

Good idea for a thread.

The pet forum is just about the most morbid depressing forum you can imagine so it'll be good to see some nice stories for a change.

My cat has a routine which I have to observe. That means that bedtime is around 11pm (ish). He will position himself between me, the keyboard and the monitor if I'm working. If I'm watching TV he will sit on the lounge rug, huffing and puffing (actually sighing) until I relent.

Yesterday a friend called round whom I had not seen for a couple of years. He left at circa 4am.

The palpable relief from my cat when he followed me upstairs to bed was so funny. The poor feline had spent nearly five hours hopping from one paw to the other, refusing to go to bed till I did.

Incidentally, I rose around 9am. His Lordship surfaced at midday and has just had breakfast and gone out for a sunbathe.

=======================

Emzie21 / kingjeremy: You have valid points about this forum. I love it here, but it can get 'heavy' at times.

Maisey Moo: That's so funny! Your son is so lucky.

Emzie21 / wildpumpkin: wonderful stories.

Heres a funny story on Sat mornings i volunteer at a local resuce centre.

While chatting to the kennel cleaners a song came on the radio so i started to sing along to it.Now this great lump of a Staffy started howling, now hes been there a while and nobodys ever heard him howl before.

Think he tried to tell me ive not got the XFactor as once i stopped singing he stopped howling

Hi all,

my cat is no longer an fat, lazy creature and is officially not obese now according to the vets. YAY! She was huge when I got her from a rescue centre from being ovefed. Managed to get the weight off her by careful feeding and chasing her round the house for exercise. Thing is after the exercise bit I look more knacked than she did! Tried getting her to play with stuff, but she wouldn't chase anything I rolled past her. Just looked at it disdainfully, then looked at me as if I was an idiot.

PS great thread! Nice to hear happy and funny stories as well as suppporting those who've lost their pets.

What a good idea for a thread. I've been getting too upset reading some of the sad stories on here. I tell myself not to read them but I am drawn to them.

One of my boys was lying on the back of the armchair enjoying the sun this morning, stretched and promptly fell off. Walks off as if nothing has happened but swipes his brother who happened to come in the room.

I agree with posters, I used to avoid this forum like the plague but when you have animals the advice on here is second to none I think.

We have a visiting cat we call Dave, little sod he is, he goes upstairs and climbs in my neighbours toilet window....then has a good mump round then howls to come down to see me , this morning I was having coffee with my neighbour, she had a jug of water she'd just topped up for her scented candle thingy....she called me in the kitchen and his head was buried deep in the jug drinking the water....bugger should have had a camera. really funny puss.

Oh every day there is a 'happy' story to tell. Amber is such a little character....

It's not a new thing but she loves my OH's work rucksack, the second he puts it down when he gets in Amber descends upon it and that's where she settles on and off for the night (she always comes to bed with me though!).... Muggins here has to hoover the rucksack every morning but we can't say no!!

Amber loves Sainsbury's bags.... she likes all carrier bags but loves the orange Sainsbury's ones...

When we get the weekly shop delivered I have to put it all away and leave the bags out for her to 'play with' (which often involves burying herself in them / getting one caught round her neck )

Awwww My dear departed Dolly used to adore any type of bag, carrier bags the lot, I had a friend to stay he'd put all his stuff away ready to go home , he picked up the bag and *god this is heavy* it was my Dolly she had dug her way all the way down through his clothes...

That is an excellent story!!

They are funny little critters aren't they?

Amber loves to 'help' me change the bed linen, which involves her belly down on the bare mattress and me laying the sheet over her so she can roll about and try to 'fight' blind from under the sheet

We've been keeping rabbits for some years, and they are a lot more intelligent than people think. I still remember well the time, about eight years ago, when our old lionhead, Symba, gave birth to a litter in a cage in our living room (she was already pregnant when my partner rescued her from a dismal pet shop in south London). Her cage was in the corner beside my favourite armchair, and Symba had quickly learned how to get out of it and go through the cat flap into the back garden. I sat down one afternoon to read, and Symba jumped out of her cage, gave me a brief glance and left, leaving her babies in the cage next to me. A few minutes later, the phone rang and I went to answer it.

When I came back, Symba was sitting on my chair giving me a look that somehow conveyed total disgust. She hopped back into her cage, gave an incredibly loud thump with her foot and pointedly turned her back on me. I hadn't realized I was meant to be babysitting...

I used to have quite a few photos of my dog Mo's adventures, but then my laptop broke down and I lost them all!

Anyway, some things off the top of my head that make me smile:

When I give Mo his dinner, I always make him do a routine of tricks, so he earns his dinner. But he gets so excited bless him that he panics and makes a mess of it by doing them all at once and repeating them all in the wrong order!

He sleeps in bed with me, but not just on my bed - under the covers. When I get in bed he'll just sit on the floor beside me, waiting until I lift up the covers for him. And he likes to sleep with his head resting on my leg!

There are a few dogs in our house, but Mo is the only one that belongs to me. When they're given treats, he'll eat his as fast as he can, and then when the other dogs' attention is away from their treat, he'll rob it and run off.

Whenever I eat my food, he'll watch me eat. But then when I look at him he looks away, pretending he's not interested. Then I'll look away and can see him eyeing my food again through the corner of my eye! I'll look at him again, and of course, he looks away again!

I'll throw a ball for him to fetch, but he is usually uninterested. But then when the other dogs start playing with it, he is suddenly interested and tries to rob it off them!

When he gets down off the bed, he'll stand with his 2 front paws on the floor, but his 2 back legs spread on the bed, waiting for me for stroke his butt! He'll then slowly slide them off the bed, rubbing his private parts on the covers!

He also has the habit of poking his butt out for the other dogs. He pokes his butt in their face and then looks behind him, waiting to be mounted (he seems to have no problem when one of the other dogs humps him!) He also does the same thing, only with his private parts, trying to get the other dogs to lick them. I don't know why he is so randy - we had him neutered last year!

He loves it in the river, but hates having a bath!

Oh wow! That is amazing. I have never had the pleasure of owning a rabbit, but have always wanted one.

My little Pie likes to "help" me change the bed too. She has found that she can squeeze behind the headboard, and sit on the bit of base that pokes out from under the mattress. From this vantage point, she has a supreme pouncy position for my fingers when I am tucking the clean sheet in! This, of course, provides fun of an unrivalled pleasure! (for her)

Toby, my big black boy, has decided that he is part parrot. Whenever I am seeing someone off at the front door, he has decided that he must sit on my right shoulder. The only problem is, that he thinks the only way to get there is to climb up my back. Now, Toby has extremely large claws, (I swear they are a foot long - feels like it anyway), and frequently draws blood as he ascends.

Ow!

My Jack Russell Scruffy has a stroke if I lift him up onto my bed, jumps up and down as if he's getting electric shocks, and can't wait to get back off. Then at his bedtime, I have to lock him into his outgrown carrier with his little Teddy, even though I've spent a fortune on bigger one's for him to sleep in. Refusal from me to lock him in like a prisoner, results in non-stop howling and growling until he get's his way!

One of my little kittens is being really affectionate at the moment and this morning she just wouldn't leave me alone! I was trying to do my make up and she insisted on sitting on my shoulder..and then as she was shifting herself round to get comfy she ended up with mascara on her tail...doh!!

One of the things that makes me laugh is in the mornings when we have to try and sneak out the front door without the kittens noticing. Its such a mission - I distract while my hubby opens the doors...and then while the cats are chasing their tails we literally have to make a run for it!! But quite often they move so fast that we can be out in the porch thinking we got out safely and then realise one of them is sitting them looking up at us saying "hah, fooled you!"

We have discovered a new toy for the cats which they love - helium balloons!! We took the weight off the balloon so the string is just dangling and they literally jump up at it for hours on end!

I recommend it, they're very bright animals-though they're also social animals so it's better to have a (neutered) pair as a solitary rabbit left alone for prolonged periods can become depressed and lethargic.

They are also often very good at standing up for themselves. When we took in a kitten (Custard) about a year ago, he decided to chase one of the rabbits in the garden (Rocky). When Rocky didn't run, the kitten whacked her around the head with his paw. The rabbit immediately reared up and belted him on the nose, which was rather funny to see.. Custard was so shocked he turned tail and ran. He's never chased the rabbits since. Rocky is about six, and I think she recognized the kitten as a baby and decided a bit of discipline was needed.
