I got a couple of kittens for some friends of mine, and I had to look after them for a couple of days when they were very little (6 weeks)

... I must have made an impression LOL because now, every time I go round to their house the White kitten (now 5 months old) makes a dash toward me and jumps up on my lap to be stroked.

It drives my friends mad as the kitten doesn't do that with ANYONE else ... doesn't half make me feel special LOL ...

My happy story is that I have just optioned another Maine Coon kitten who should be coming to live with us next year - he's half brother to the one I already have, Boo (that's her name - not trying to scare you lol) and I can hardly wait

Awww my sister who died recently I have her pusscat Lucy, now she was an independant little girl didnt like cuddles, very rare for her to sit on your lap, now all she wants is cuddles and I mean proper cuddles, I pick her up and cuddle her close to me and she just lays there.....last night whilst sitting on the sofa she was next to me, I picked her up just like a baby and she layed there for ages...aww bless her...

I have had my rescue cat for about 18 months now and although he likes lots of fuss and being stroked etc, he isn't so keen on being picked up and he would never sit on your lap.

However, over time we have progressed. I can now pick him up for a "10 second cuddle" as we call it before he wriggles about and wants to get down again.

As for the lap sitting thing...I never thought anything would happen there as although he has walked across my lap to get somewhere he would never actually sit on me. And then the other week, out of the blue, he jumped up onto the armchair I was sitting in and first of all sat on the arm of the chair before slowly sliding down until he was half on my lap and half on the arm of the chair. He does this every time I sit in the chair now and each time he is more on my lap and less on the arm of the chair.

It may have taken him nearly two years to do it, but it was worth the wait in the end

I am very new here but wanted to share the story of my dog, who I have had two years now.

She is a mongrel who was very abused / neglected when she was a pup - she is 3 now.

Luckily, with a lot of love, attention, and patience - she has transformed into an amazing girl who is confident, loving, and full of mischief. When we first got her, she would cower if you even walked past her, raised your voice (i.e. calling into next room to see if OH wanted cup of tea etc), and piddle if someone she didn't know came into the house.

Now she can't get enough of life / new places / new smells / new people..... although she still isn't too keen on men coming into the house (i.e. gasman) when OH isn't around. I loves her I do.

That's a lovely story Busy, I've got a rescue cat who was really badly treated and she's doing really well too

Saw this lovely story in the local paper today, possibly Britain's oldest cat?

I love this idea.

At the exact moment whilst im trying to type...my cat Evie is walking all over my laptop and typing out gobdy goop lol. I have probs tried to write this message 10 times. Talking about the UK's oldest cat.....good for her. Cats will live longer if they are loved and comforted. My cat Suschi died recently due to a beating she got, she was 16 but had that not happened vets said they would stake their life on her reaching 20. I betted 25 lol, though she was 16 had you seen her you'd think more like 5.

I love this thread I want to share some happy and heart warming stories

I remember when I first came home from university, my dogs were looking out the window and wagging their tails like mad. When I came in the house, they ran towards me and looked with me in such devotion, I have that photo in my wallet! They also kept following me around for that whole weekend!

When we just had one dog (we bought another one a year later) she used to rummage through the shopping bags and take the bag of apples and run around the garden with it, she did love her apples bless her!

The dog we have left is just a little weird one! She has a massive tongue which sticks out her mouth (we checked with the vet and sometimes that happens!) and whenever someone walks in the room she's in, her tail wags which is really cute!
