Actually - the thing that annoys me most about Alesha is her heavy earrings! I'm sure her earlobes will be below her chin before she's 40!

Clearly Craig belongs with the army of 'nit-pickers'
Craig tells new! magazine: “She needs to get her tenses sorted out – ‘was’ and ‘were’. I might have to give her a few pointers with her grammar.” |

Had to look that word up. You is clevva
![]() ![]() I agree btw. I'm no Alesha fan but her poor grammar isn't the reason. My probem is with the BBC for employing someone with very limited knowledge of dance and my licence fee paying her salary. She gets my money, I get "Your bum looks great" in return. I feel robbed ![]() |

[quote=Forget-me-not;44932717]Trouble is she doesn't really give much in the way of dance information in laymans terms which would offer a counterbalance and make her being there seem worthwhile. Occasionally she does (although personally I would prefer even laymans language to come from someone with a professional dance background)
I think this is the key point of division between people when you examine the issue closely....for me it would make more sense to have the technical judges explain their phraseology or use simpler terms at least some of the time (alternatively the show could use some clips alongside their comments about particular moves) and still retain just one judge who is there for their perspective as a former contestant to make more general comments about perormance etc so that you still get the counterbalance you refer to. However, whether someone other than Alesha would fill this role better is another question. |

I feel a bit left out, because I don't have a strong opinion on Alesha, one way or the other...
I feel I should be up in arms - about something - but you know what? I simply can't be bothered. |

People still going on about her?
No point, she's here to stay. I would honestly prefer now if Bruno went to be honest. He adds nothing to the panel! |

My opinion of Alesha is that she's in an awkward situation, and is not entirely comfortable, but it's a situation of her own making. Maybe she should've bowed out gracefully after one series? I do appreciate she tries to gee the criticised contestants up and this comes out in her generous marking. However she's not qualified to be there and doesn't add much to the panel. A sympathetic character is needed, but one who is knowledgeable too would be of more use. In the meantime, why doesn't she comment on the use of music and the costumes? |

I never thought Alesha should have been hired, irrespective of the standard of her English (which doesn't offend me, to be honest). I've always felt that she was employed because she ticked lots of the "right" boxes - young, attractive, female, non-white - but unfortunately fell down when it came to dance expertise. I'd have much preferred to see any of the now-missing professional dancers as judges, irrespective of how many of those boxes they ticked. I still would.
That said, I think Alesha has improved a lot this series. She is seems to be working harder to make her comments constructive and genuinely useful, and she always looks for the positive, which is a nice counterbalance the others. |

in the opinion of her critics she is simply unqualified for the position she occupies on the judging panel.

I didn't say they were racist. I was listing the only possible reasons I could think of for the constant barrage of petty insults that come Alesha's way. Unless people think I'm right it shouldn't bother them. I was musing on what it is about her that gets people so riled up because I'm sorry, I can't imagine that a person's poor grammar can enrage people to this extent.
I have to add that i didn't mind the comment she made about Gavins bum, i had a look after she said it and she was quite right ![]() Quote:
It baffles me as to how you can find Alesha annoying and yet want that gobby-mouthed Karen around. Are you kidding? My boyfriend and I literally jumped for joy when we heard she wasn't on the show any more. If she came back I'd be gutted. Yes, the woman undoubtedly knows her stuff but then while Hitler knew a lot about Germany, I wouldn't ask him to be my tour guide.
I don't know if the Alesha hate is classism or racism or reverse ageism or just plain old jealousy but it is getting really old. Quote:
As a critic I speak for myself and know that my view is based on her ability as a dancer and inability as a judge; nothing at all to do with her getting 'above herself.' and I resent the suggestion that my opinion should be influenced by such shallow reasoning.
