Most successful post Corrie Actors
Just read a review for a new film coming out called 'In Our Name' starring the excellent Joanne Froggatt, who played teen tearaway Zoe Tattersall in Corrie from 1997-1998. She has had a pretty illustrious career after leaving Weatherfield. Bad Girls, The Street, Life on Mars, Robin Hood and Danielle Cable:Eyewitness all spring to mind.
Suranne Jones has been pretty busy too, she's had hits such as Vincent, Unforgiven and Five Days and has also appeared in the likes of the Sarah Jane Adventures, Strictly Confidential and Single Father. Looking at Jonathan Wrather's IMDB page I see that he has appeared in an episode of hit US forensics drama Bones, pretty big coup for him I'd say!! Of course Matthew Marsden has found a fair deal of success stateside and has appeared in a number of high profile productions. Sarah Lancashire, another wonderful star, has been pretty successful too since her days on the cobbles. I was blown away by her recent performance as Rosemary Nicholls in Ipswich Ripper drama Five Daughters. Are there any other former Street stars that spring to people's minds? |

Right now I would definitely say Suranne Jones. She's done very well for herself and has proved that she is an exceptionally decent actress.

Ben Kingsley anyone?
Played Ron Jenkins in the 60s, then went on to bigger and better things...notably playing Gandhi. |

Ben Kingsley is easily the most successful! He's been knighted, and then, there's his film profile...
I mean, damn, Schindler's List... Shutter Island... Ghandi.... |

She's an excellent actress, and very versatile and yet very under-rated. She was very good in that drama about the moors murders a few years back.
Joanne is an excellent actress, she deserves to be a national treasure. Yeah she played Myra Hindley's sister Maureen in that drama, another assured performance and a great production. Incidentally, Maxine Peake who played Hindley, was also in Corrie 11 years ago. She played the part of Belinda Peach, a girl who was after Ashely, she was in it for one episode.

Denise Welch - now in Waterloo Road
Sarah Lancashire - saw her in George Gently recently but really liked her as a barrister opposite John Bird in Chambers |

Georgia Taylor? You almost forget she was ever Toyah when you see her as Ruth in Casualty.

I don't watch Casualty but I'm sure she's great in it.

I expected Surrane Jones to be back in Corrie long before now but she's done brilliantly for herself! A return as Karen (or Becky version 1 :P) would probably be a step backwards for her. She could certainly wipe the floor with Becky...

Eva Pope (AKA Tanya Pooley) is another name that just came to mind. She's had a good run of success with the likes of Strictly Confidential, Bad Girls, Waterloo Road etc under her belt.
