Wish they would get rid of this dance in SCD....... its the most boring of all the dances and most celebs can't do it look uncomfortable.
A pointless dance imo...

I agree. The professionals never seem to be able to create a flowing dance that looks like a dance rather than pointless twisting and turning and posing

Completely disagree, it's one of my favourite dances.

The Rumba is my favourite dance!

Its also one of the Classic latin dances.

For the male slebs it is always a challenge - and a good one to get out of the way early

naah, i think that when its done good it can be really amazing !, i prefer watching the female celebs do it rather than the men.

I like it, but I think it's done too early - most celebs at this stage make a pig's ear of it. Also, I think it needs to go up against a different ballroom as putting the quickstep up against the rhumba I think gave an advantage to the ballroom celebs this week.

Yes, it should most definitely stay, but should be a bit later on in the series so that the celebs have built upon the standard dance moves and feel more confident. The fact that it's a difficult or challenging dance sorts out the men from the boys, the women from the girls.

Boring it s not.

I've only seen one rumba on SCD that I enjoyed.

When training I wanted to slit my throat rather than have to do the rumba. It's actually more boring to dance than it is to watch.

I's the only dance they regularly do that I watch on the edge of my seat (and not in a good way). It is only watchable when done well and as it's so difficult to do then it is rarely done any where near well.

I would bin Jimi and Flavias Rhumba last night, what was that?

I agree. It's one of my fave dances. Sometimes I like the chemistry the couples get into their rumba, and sometimes I like it when there's a good technical one. There've been plenty of both sorts over the years.

I love Jimi but the Rhumba was just awful. He looked as if he was having muscle spasms. Felicity's was just awful though. Yes dear, we know you are bendy

My Top 5 Rumba's (for various reasons)

1- Cherie & James- Everything was so perfect with it
2- Rachel & Vincent- In my opinion, the best rumba ever
3- Kelly & Brendan- Very sexy- great chemistry
4- Carol & Paul- THAT. FACE!
5- Martina & Matthew- Odd choice- but I ithought Matthew choereographed it fantastically

Who are Carol and Paul?

I'd keep it, but move it to much nearer the end of the series.

Go back and back in time to the Arthurian Age- Series 2, I believe - Carol Vorderman (with aching back) and Paul Killick - so glad he never came back.

I'm sure she went on It Takes Two (or the equivalent that series had) and claimed she broke her hip during the bend at the end.

If anyone has the video of that rumba, I'd love to see it again!

Had forgotten about Carol Vordeman and I don't remember Paul Killick at all.

Edit to Add:

I meant to say Thank you!

Keep it please!! It's a beautiful dance, done well of course. There have been some amazing ones on SCD, notably Rachel and Vincent's, which was fabulous.

It is not an easy dance and always sorts the sheep from the lambs. It's a waste having it so early in the competition - I think celebs would have a better crack at it with a bit more experience under their belts.

The Rumba is a beautiful dance! More importantly, it's proper ballroom dancing. If they should dump anything it should be the Charleston. That was more like a bad practical joke than a dance.

The day they dump one of the ten international dances will be the day they have to dump Strictly from the prog title. The original film Strictly Ballroom was about pushing the boundaries of what's allowed, but not trampling all over them.

Agree 100%. The problem is not with the dance, but with the way it is performed on Strictly.

I think its a beautiful dance when its done right. Its so difficult though, and requires so much technique, that I think they should save it for later in the show.
