Yes I miss Brian. Thought he and Kristina brought a breath of fresh air to the show when they joined. Can we honestly say the new pros are any better?

I miss Darren and Lilia, Ian and Matt also.

I miss Brian, I thought he was a great addition to the show and I was always drawn to him in group dances, especially Latin obviously. It was always difficult deciding whether to watch Brian or Brendan!

I miss the others too but am OK with the news one's. Jared is a little out of his depth though.

In answer to the OP's original question, I think the reason you don't see many people lamenting Brian is that a lot of Brian's fans pretty much stay in the appreciation sub-forum and appreciate him. Unless they spot a thread that would be unbalanced without them posting!

Apart from that, I suspect you would get pretty much equal numbers of responses if you posted this thread title again with Lilia or Matt in the title. They all have people who miss them, people who are glad to see them gone, and people in between.

Totally agree. However, I don't think he would come over here as the Beeb pay pants and treat their dancers with utter contempt!

I am not so sure that Derek would be accepted by the SCD fans. He has done a lot of "out of the box" choreography that as I recalled was disliked by a lot of posters, namely his futuristic paso and his Vaudeville style QS. His AT this week had them playing the piano at the beginning and I think that would have been considered faffing about and not gone over well.

To me Brian had conservative "we've seen this all before and that is how should look" choreo knowing his audience would appreciate that.

Derek would never have done the futuristic paso on Strictly (which was amazing) because it was done as an 'style' week on Strictly and Derek pulled Futuristic out of the hat so it wasnt his choice to do it that way but what he produced was amazing

And frankly I think the piano bit could be on strictly this year.......we have had wellies and binoculars and park benches already.

I miss Brian very much, I loved his enthusiasm and commitment - and he is a lovely guy too. Having said that I miss Ian and Matthew too, it's not the same without any of them.

But when you read the variety of comments and opinions on this and practically every other thread the most obvious thing is ......different strokes for different folks!!!! And isn't it just as well because wouldn't it be a boring old world if we all like the same things?

I think that's one of the best pieces of choreography I've ever seen (either side of the pond!).

Definitely miss Brian and Ian, Matt, Darren and Lillia too. Brian and Kristina were a breath of fresh air when they joined and brought a whole new energy to the show. I think they actually encouraged some of the other dancers like James to up their game. Although I have warmed to some of the newer dancers, from this and the last series, there are others I am less keen on.
But some of the established pros still need to look to their laurels too. Some of their choreography is decidedly average

BRING BACK BRIAN, please

I thought it was fabulous also but I had the thought that if something like that were choreographed for SCD there would be a mountain of complaints of how it was faffing about, gimmicky and all the rest.

Indeed! Day release todayMore seriously, I don't post on the main forum (do read them) because there are enough obnoxious posters, without me adding to the problem.

At least on the sparkly appreciation sub forum, they can rehabilitate the cynicism and negativity.

I do miss Brian very much. I really liked his choreography and in the pro dances my eyes were always drawn to him and Kristina.

I also miss Matt too.

i miss brian lots, i think he made the right decision to go but still miss him.
whatever perceptions you have of the guy, from someone whose talked to him backstage, had dance lessons with him and attended many of his shows with ali and kristina. i can tell you he's an amazing, passionate man who is very thoughtful and kind and very loyal to his fans
