My mother brought me up not to make personal remarks. What a pity some of you weren't brought up the same way. And of course, as the object of the derision can't respond, it's "open season". Incidentally, I'm not young. I just know from personal experience how hurtful remarks about appearance can be, even when made in a jokey fashion.
I have to question the point of this and other "destructive" threads. I can't imagine anyone who posts on here being happy if a stranger in a supermarket aisle came upto them and made a hurtful or vulgar remark. So why people on here think it's appropriate to post unpleasant, written comments is beyond me.
Usually, (this post excepted) I prefer to keep my own counsel on things and think it's a pity others don't do the same.

But DS would just be a load of blank pages.

If you post a thread inviting the response to a question, you are going to get varied answers and the only way to ensure that they are all positive, is to use an Appreciation thread - that is the nature of the beast I'm afraid.
If a celeb puts himself/herself 'out there' then they have to take the rough with the smooth, criticism as well as adulation.

I don't recognise her name”

Bonnie, Joanne was Derek's celebrity partner at the time

I'd not heard of her before though.

AJ?

Anyway, to get back to your question, I liked Brian, but no I am not missing him.

Thanks for that - I've never followed DWTS.
I suppose their stars could be minor ones too who haven't come over the Pond?

Everyone's entitled to defend their favourite pros, I do so quite frequently for mine Just didn't want to post 'I don't miss him' and leave it at that without an explanation because I don't think it's fair not to justify opinions like that. And he's perfectly entitled to have an off day or two, thinking retrospectively I'm sure it was down to what was about to explode in the press, but it does leave a lasting impression regardless.

My image of him as the traffic warden actually included a hat before you even said that - I somehow associate Brian with hats!

DWTS finishes a couple of week before Strictly, so he could do something then if he wanted. But it seems to be one of those rumours that keeps returning and is neither confirmed nor denied.
