Can you put paprika pepper straight from the mill onto food?
I like goulashes with load paprika pepper
Like that tangy flavour Can you put paprika straight from the mill onto food - or does it need to be cooked into food? |

Spice is meant to be cooked to get rid of that tangy flavour you mention. It wont harm you raw though if thats what you mean. Paprika is just powered dried peppers.

I think certain recipes can have fresh paprika that is not cooked into the dish.
In the US, a potato salad (may be much different from a UK version) generally has paprika sprinkled on top as do Deviled Eggs (also an American dish). Many people would not have it without Paprika. |

Lots of spices have to be cooked as other poster said just to get rid of that *raw* flavour you get with spices, hence all curries you really must cook the spices first then add the food.
There are lots of dishes were you just sprinkle on paprika. (I love the smoked paprika) fab taste. |

I've seen it and done it many times with dishes where you sprinkle the spice directly onto the food.
Examples are paprika, cumin, garam masala, pepper, cayenne |
