Some random thoughts on The Only Way Is Essex
Last years two series were hilarious and didn't look so staged.
The new series has lost all its charm - the scenes are so stilted and wooden now - at least before there seeme to be some degree of "reality" going on.
The Maria/Mick story line is as dumb as it is laughable. Two planks together.
Amy was big part of show and is missed, notwithsatnding the fact she thinks she is ten times more funny and interesting than she actually is.
I can' tstand Sam or her sister and baffled why they are such a big part of show. Her scenes with Joey are cringeworthy - most unlikely couple ever.
Joey is gold
Mark and Arg scenes still ok to watch (cos they are real mates natch), but the set-up scenes with Mark and Mario or Mark and Lucy were too much.
Lydia and her mum are quite funny and even though that is really obviously staged now as well everytime they have a chat or meeting with someone it's still bearable to watch.
Kirk still an uber prick but I think maybe he saw some of the last couple of series and what a **** he looked in most scenes and trying hard to grow up and not appear to be the spoilt little kid he undoubtedly is.
I'll probably carry on watching just cos i normally belly laugh about 4 or 5 times per show which is more than any other comedy on tv bar Curb series 8 but it's not the same anymore

I agree kirk was vile in the last series and probably realises hes not going to win many fans with that behaviour or the "spoilt rich boy" thing either, hence pointing out to us all in the first episode that he had brought the ferrari not his dad "arent you proud of me" etc.

I agree that it's lost its mojo a bit lately. I put it down to the characters being more self aware of how they are perceived on the show, and also that many of the storylines have resolved, so there's not really the awkward tensions that there used to be.
By contrast, Made in Chelsea looked like a bit of an inferior TOWIE knock off to start with but has really found its feet and is definitely worth a look if you like this type of program.
The only thing that is making the show right now is Joey. I think he is the only one that hasn't let his new found fame get to him.
Arg really annoyed me on the radio show, acting like he knew best!

This series has lost the fun. Kirk is still a spoilt little daddy's boyand really needs to grow up.
Mick and Maria is cringey, smacks of desperation and is as fake as her hair/boobs/teeth - take your pick
Mark's not fooling me with his "I'm so sad" act - he's another one who needs to grow up.
I like Lucy (and would kill to have a figure like hers. Sam seems to be more sulky this series. Gemma is still annoying and over the top, and I don't see the point of the twins at all.

I wasnt ever really a fan of hers, she came across as a bit "smug" as LaurenP pointed out earlier but shes gone up in my estimation by apologising to Lauren. Unfortunately she often says shes "over" Mark but every time he clicks his fingers she goes running even after he publically humilates her.

Loved the Mark/mario showdown, I am so team Mario!! Kirk is a little stirring tw*t who seriously needs to grow up. Even Joey was making more sense last night telling him not to get involved.
Also - I can't stand Arg's singing voice. Really bugs me!!
