I caught this yesterday afternoon whilst channel flicking as I paused on what appeared to be the soft porn channel. I'm no prude but I found it's adult content and the half naked women with over inflated orange plastic breasts revealing way too much cleavage and bare flesh rather inappropriate for mid afternoon entertainment. Not really something i'd like my child seeing at that time of day.

Typical dumbed down ITV2 crap aimed at the mentally challenged, chavs, blonde bimbos and bored housewives.

This show is pure eye candy for sad teenage lads who read Zoo magazine with a box of tissues on standby and wags on heat called Tiffany who think this is quality drama and use Sadie Frost and Jodie Kidd as their role model. It makes Hollyoaks look like Pride and Prejudice. They can't act for toffee and I want to punch their plastic Barbie looking orange faces in and tape their whiney annoying mouths firmly shut. I managed less than 5 minutes before having to turn it off for fear of my mind turning to mush. Typical ITV2 garbage aimed at Katie Price fans and Jeremy Kyle viewers!

I saw 10 minutes of this programme and think its quite possibly one of the worst things i have ever seen on tv, who would watch this and find it enjoyable? what is the world coming to?

For me, I love the fact that I don't seem to live in the same world as these fake, plastic people with over inflated ego's and I.Q.'s below 50.

I've lived in Essex all my life, and thank goodness the people you see on the programme are not really a true representation of us Essex folk at all, not in my world anyway.

I like your posts in general Wizard and don't want to get on wrong side of you but I love this show and it is not for any of the reasons you put above. It's a bit like why i like Big Brother, i just find people watching fascinating. things they say , the looks they do, trying to imagine the world their brain sees compared to mine. Yeah i know it's unbelievable some of the stuff they find important, the tans, the lashes etc but it's bloody interesting to me. I think it's like watching a school disco just ten years after they have all left school. By and large there's no one nasty in it and far rather my children watched this than the absolute mind numbing, contrvied and depressing GARBAGE that is Soap opera - namely Eastenders and Emmerdale o rJeremy bloody Kyle and his evil show. Seven days is good as well imo if you like peopel watching that is - if you don't then these shows must seem tortureous.

Edit - oh i just saw the acting comment

I must admit that I'm actually finding myself enjoying this as well. And I'm as far from this type of person you could imagine. Where I'm from in east London you never meet people like this anywhere.

What I don't understand is how they've all got so much cash. Buying rolex watches, £700 suits etc... are they really making that much money?

Well I suppose I could understand your point about people watching if it were a fly on the wall documentary but it's fiction and therefore no different than the garbage soaps your talking about. The whole people watching thing seems a bit pointless seeing as none of it is real. It's badly acted and is far from a true representation of people in Essex. It's a sexed up, soft porn version of what the rest of the country stereotype as Essex girls and that's what makes is rubbish. It's just eye candy full of women with plastic faces, orange tans, constantly flashing lots of cleavage whilst trying to act convincingly. And by the way, and I really don't mean this personally but I think people who watch Big Brother also need to get a life but that's just my personal opinion.

me neither. i think its interesting to see an insight, no matter how clouded, into people's lives. i also like the idea, that if one of them does make it big ie) amy. that i would have seen the beginnings of her career in the spotlight

Hello? You hoo! It's not real! Ffs. Seriously how dumb are they aiming this programme? It's a mockumentary not a documentary. Actually it's not even that cos it's not even funny. You're not seeing an insight into anyones lives. They're actors. This is NOT real life!

Seriously someone kill me now before the idiots start running the assylum

Calm down, Wizard. It is an entertainment show and no one takes it seriously.

oh me too Bonny, i really want to but i can't !!

How adorable is Arge?! Aw he made my heart melt last night when he was singing to Lydia, he's obviously head over heels for her!

Bit annoyed with Kirk! Thought he was a decent bloke till he lined up his next conquest without even telling Amy he was finishing with her... naughty!

if it is supposed to reflect their lives in someway then why does Jack Tweed not feature in it at all... he is Mark Wright's best mate apparently (according to their twitter posts) - from what I heard Jack asked to be part of it and ITV2 declined... but if the main characters best friend isn't in it then makes me think the whole thing is set up, not just certain scenes for 'your entertainment'

It's so flipping dreadful that my eyes are glued to the screen...and I can't tear them away

If I hadn't, in the past, watched nightclub clearing out time on Road Wars I'd have said that people don't dress and behave like this.

Did anyone else nearly vommit last night when Harry got his kit off?

No, they're not actors, they are real people. Can't you tell? If they were actors, they'd be really bad actors, wouldn't they?

Why thank you Miss Poppy, I think so He's doing some filming on Sunday so I guess it'll be on the next Wednesday one (unless it ends up on the cutting room floor of course)

My understanding is that they're real people, but this is much like X-Factor in that people have 'bid' to get on the show in order to further their careers - either as a model, a promoter or whatever. ITV have no doubt carefully auditioned them, which makes a mockery of the whole thing.

The scenes are all set up (as it says at the start) and they're given guidance on what to say/do, plus I'm sure they get together off camera to discuss what they're going to do next. I don't believe it's scripted.

Clearly, they have to plan many things in advance in order to have the cameras set up. No doubt all the background people are made to sign disclaimers and keep out of the way.

The whole thing is fake; made to look real. It's a weird mix of soap and documentary, which will create 'celebrities' for the media to hook on to. In fact, some of the girls are already featuring in the lads mags as being stars from this show.

Just because it's an interesting idea from a TV production point of view (albeit copied from the US, which seems to do it better), and people watch without realising it's fake, doesn't mean you SHOULD make it! In the 1990s, there was a video featuring real executions and loads of people bought it. People will watch anything, but that shouldn't encourage more dumbed down television.

Still, one thing X-Factor and the like proves, you'll get large audiences from those who really do buy into the whole thing, and about twice as many who watch to be outraged and sit back saying 'this is awful'. True car-crash television.

I watched it last night for the first time as I find Essex accents sexy.

I found it to be cringeworthy and embarrasing.

It was as if they were participating in a drama, but REALLY bad actors.
